Microsoft Touts Surface Pro 7 as 'The Better Choice' Over MacBook Pro in New Ad

Hi I’m Perez the youngest computer reviewer.

Microsoft gave me a Surface 7 to compare to the MacBook Air.

So anyway they paid me $5000 for the ad and I bought a MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and...a **** ton of XBox games. So Microsoft got something out of me. 😝

By the way, there are many reasons why a PC is a better purchase, especially for professional Engineers and gamers. Macs have a edge on content creation.
PCs are not the better purchase - unless you're really on a tight budget. Macs have MUCH better security whereas Windows is a patching nightmare. But the point on games is valid. Apple to this day still doesn't understand gamers, and Metal doesn't exactly cut it when it comes to making up for that. And neither does Apple Arcade. I don't see how it would matter if you were using a Mac or Windows for engineers, developers, etc. There isn't much that Windows can do in that department that the Mac can't.

It can along with multibooting Windows, Linux, etc.

Hacktinosh doesn't count. The work to maintain a Hackintosh is almost more than you get out of it, a glitchy machine at best. Especially sleep, sound, trackpad, camera, updates, wifi, and bluetooth will usually not work properly, or just one of them will. You'll be messing with kexts all day, I've been there.

Same thing was said about PowerPC and look where it ended up. Already seeing a lot of lightly used M1s dumped on OfferUp.
x86 is going to die, get over it now or get over it later. I've been holding onto those Macs in my sig for years, having no interest in any of Apple's newer offerings, until now. Once the second gen of M1 MBPs is out, one of those will replace my old machines (the current ones look great, but as a rule I never buy first gen).

And of course there are used M1 Macs for sale, everything is for sale.

Any person who's ever used a Surface before knows how bad they are.

I used a Surface Pro 5 for many years in college. Touchscreen and pen functionality breaks literally the second the device temperature exceeds room temperature, Pen starts ghosting/writing even when you've lifted it from the screen, device randomly doesn't wake from sleep sometimes so you have to do a hard reset, green "aurora" type clouds start appearing on the bottom center of the screen, and more. Try to repair? Microsoft will literally replace your device with a broken one. Happened to me more than once when I got my device back from Microsoft, turn it on, there is a dead pixel on the screen.

In comparison, the current 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro starts at $1,299 with 256GB of storage and 8GB of unified memory and increases to $2,299 for 256GB of storage and 16GB of unified memory.
I'm not sure if this is correct. Please see this screenshot of the website this morning.

Center of gravity is better on the MBP and it has macOS. Those make me choose the MacBook, although I prefer the MBA to the MBP.

I loathe these type of ads, but it seems a common American thing.

Let your product sell on its own merits rather than bad-mouthing the competition... and that goes for the "classic" Mac vs PC ads as well, I thought they were dreadful, full of twisted fact and half-truths.

Does the Surface Pro 7 even come with a pen? The ad makes it seem like it's included - however, I can't find any retailer including the pen for free.

Anything that requires a kick-stand to stand up isn’t a laptop replacement.

Also, a better gaming machine? Riiiiight....

Really getting tired of Microsoft and Samsung making these ads year after year slamming Apple's products. And how the kid treated the MacBook Pro by tipping the lid back like it was a piece of trash. Not cool nor it is professional of you Microsoft. Boooo! And is this kid serious about gaming on the Surface Pro.....or is he just plain stupid?

Please stop wasting shareholder money on hardware. Concentrate on more cloud services. How much you wasted on Microsoft stores. Now it is closed.
Why is it wasting money?
The Surface laptops are seriously good in comparison with other Windows alternatives. Besides, with a transition to ARM, Microsoft has a golden opportunity to launch ARM first in their computers and have a significant competitive advantage.
It makes sense.
