When was the last time you bought and used PlayStation Plus? It really is a league ahead of Microsoft's service. At least in Europe it is, where Xbox Live has no added benefit except for being able to go online.
Also, while you can generally not come to the conclusion that games will look or perform better on one device, than another, it is a valid comparison in this case. Why? Because the architecture is almost identical. There are two main differences:
- Xbox One has same type of GPU as PS4, PS4 just has a 'bigger engine' (so to say)
- PS4 has unified DDR5 RAM which makes it really easy to develop for, while Xbox One must throw data over between 8 GB DDR3 and 32 MB of the so-called ESRAM.
It is highly likely that any game developed for the Xbox One will run just as smooth, but probably even smoother on the PS4. Games developed specifically for the PS4 need to be 'watered-down' to run just as smooth on an Xbox One.
Of course, the technical specifications are not final yet until we actually see both devices in-store, but right now Sony has two advantages over Microsoft:
- Architecture the same, but way more power for PS4
- Easier to develop for due to faster RAM + RAM allocation
I bought psn plus last year and well i have to say i only used my PS 2 months after black ops 2 launch and this year ive played maybe 5-7 days
before that cant remember i even turned the console on; i see no benefit to pay for psn plus because very few people pay for it seems and none of the people i know with a ps3 have ever think of paying for it (they bought it because online is free !).
On xbox live i actually never had problems with the online experience, dont remember any lag and voice chat is perfect aswell party chats and that too me is worth the 50-60 bucks a yea along with the IMO superior controller and exclusives games
hell microsoft got devil may cry and metal gear solid
something i was shocked to see outside of the playstation.
In the end people will vote with the wallet, and exclusive tittles plays a major role in gamers on a budget (not all can afford every console or just choose not to), myself im going with the xbox one first and after a year il see if it the ps4 is worth it.
