Just as I feared, its all about the Xbox focus on becoming the ultimate home media and less on games. I'm not falling for that crap again. I'm hoping they bring on the games at E3...keep the exclusive DLC/Maps to yourself MS.

Hardware wise its...its...a box:D

The Controller: looks like an updated version of the original xbox controller.

XBox, XBox 360 and XBoxOne...

Bless

Not too impressed with the announcement today though I am looking forward to getting one.

People keep forgetting this announcement was about the new Xbox, not for games. That is for E3.

Also, why the comparisons to the PS4 reveal? If I remember correctly, there was no PS4 at the PS4 reveal. Only specs in games as they did not even show the PS4.

Like I said in the front-page article thread, I really hope they didn't do away with the WMC extender function. I really want to buy this xbox, as I've been without my 360 for a couple years, but without the extender availability I cannot justify spending the money.

I really could see this having a great role in my entertainment setup.

I was just going to post something similar. Going over non-gaming aspects today and then focusing on games at E3 is much better than trying to do it all at E3.

Overall the Xbox One is heading in a direction I like. Improved Kinect, improved media center functionality, various power states, etc.,. I am worried about how often it needs to phone home and how used games will be handled though.

And the internet is already responding

The internet has not been kind the past couple days. lol. ( not that the internet is kind in general ) Some pretty funny Xbox One stuff out there.

Huge XBox 360 fan here. Nothing I've heard about the neXtBox has made me happy yet.

I have faith that the SteamBox is going to be the next big new thing. I've got tons of Steam games, and have faith that Mr. Newell will deliver. Also, even though the OS will most likely be Linux based, I have a hard time believing Valve would release the SteamBox if it couldn't play their entire catalog. They'll get it right.

I haven't heard of the stream box. Can you link me?

I am waiting to hear how the ps4 deals with used games & drm. I have a bad feeling that not only Microsoft is going to have some kind of used game resell/locking system.

I do love the idea of redownloading games without the discs, the less plastic I have to move around the better, I have been spoiled by the ipad. I will wait to see how the system works in practice before purchasing either system however.

Also, I am really bummed about the backwards compatibility. I am hoping that at E3 the rumor about the $100 xbox 360 diskless system allowing the xbox one to be backwards compatible is revealed, but I think they would have already talked about it if it was true..... All the DRM & BC problems makes it easy to sit back and not purchase either system for awhile and see if another option develops instead (like the Steambox/OUYA/new Apple TV/another Game Console.)

Don't really have a link, I heard about it in a Podcast. "The Nerdist", Chris Hartwick's random descent into tech and geekhood, spotlighted the CEO of Valve. Check it out in iTunes. I'm pretty sure that it's on the way. That whole "Big Picture" mode of Steam, I think, is proof of concept for a TV running Steam, who knows?

Cheers.

The fact that Sony have stated that th PS3 does not ever need to be connected to the Internet implys in itself there is no DRM.

DRM is checked online, if the PS3 does not ever need to be connected to the Internet the implication is that there can be no DRM.

They already stated also they would not be blocking second hand games.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if retailers still have to pay a proportion of second hand games on PS4 as a royalty (same as 360) except on PS4 you won't be required to activate / licence the game.

Publishers are hardly likely to want Royalties on one format but not the other, so I imagine the deal with retailers will be for both 360 & PS4 sales. Royaltys will be paid based on sales lodged onto stores centralised computers/tills.

This, as this model protects the personal sellers (let me trade you this PS4 game for yours) and the vintage market (the game will continue to play on the console well into the future - no MS "kill switch").

Microsoft have seriously crashed and burned. They had a good name and lead and have utterly blown it. You only get one chance to make a first impression and they decided to show the revolution of plugging you TV box into it!

And then we have had the PR disaster aftermath with different execs saying different things, it needs to connect to the internet, it will use the cloud to boost games performance so you will need a good internet connections, Kinect has to be used, and the whole pre-owned games fiasco...

MS have seriously got to clear up all these points with hard facts this week, otherwise the games will not be allowed to shine at E3 as the media will be pushing on the other topics.

I saw enough and will be getting a Playstation 4, MS blew it for me and it's very clear they will be pushing hard on the media aspects which I couldn't care less about, I want a powerful next gen games console, not a glorified voice remote control for the telly!

And also just to add, I have read that the new pre-owned DRM system Microsoft have come up with is exclusively their system, the games retailer will have to sing up to and use Microsofts system for it's DRM, so I do not think Sony will follow as they won't use MS's systems. E3 will be very interesting...

Someone else ended up linking me. Thanks though!
