Okay, this is cool, and technologically impressive. But I really cant see what the point is other than to potentially put artists out of work for corporate style art. That is great (I guess) if you pay people to make cheesy art, but sucks for people who learned to create cheesey art to earn a living. One more future potential career path lost to machines to allow rich people to stay richer.

I can easily see Bing and Cortana becoming seriously relevant this way.
This is making me reevaluate how I look at "failed" projects of big companies.

The problem for Apple is that even if the have amazing AI stuff in the pipeline, it will not be presented until WWDC and then not released until September Apple will loose market shares. Because by then Microsoft CoPilot etc will have been out for ages.
Im already using Bing chat for work a lot and if Apple Mail can’t match CoPilot I will be switching to Outlook.
I think a lot of people will.

I've been playing with the new AI powered Bing, and it's pretty awesome.
First time in many years I have wondered if Apple is on thin ice.
Thin ice? Apple doesn’t produce a search engine. The AI features that Microsoft has incorporated into Bing is directed solely at Google and gaining market share in search. Apple is not in that business.

Is it me or it just looks creepy?

I just searched, "Tim Cook using Samsung Phone". Got similar results 😂. Microsoft Bing thinks Tim Cook is a chef.

“Bing thinks Tim Cook is a chef”

Because “Cook”. That’s the limitation of these models that we have to live with for now.

Images cannot be harmful or unsafe.
I’m not so sure about that, given the abominations it creates:

This better become someone’s cover art for their new album, or I’m quitting the internet for the rest of the day.

There is no Apple hate. Look at how behind Siri is. Where is Apple's Search Engine Browser?

It was just my personal opinion based on what I think. Nothing else. I'll go ask Siri how far away Apple is.

Siri has nothing to do with image models. Apple can just buy mid journey and become the leader in generative image space. DALLE and stable diffusion are like high school sports team compared to major league player like mid journey.

I'm pretty sure that top left is a Steve Jobs pose and the bottom right looks like one of the other typical keynote presenters (Jeff Williams). Isn't the bottom left wearing Bill Gates glasses? The top right looks like another tech exec I can't think of.

After seeing the funny Tim Cook generated images in the other comments, I'm beginning to wonder if the model is intentionally limited in not being able to put real people's faces on photos.

As creepy as some of these images are, this is it in its infancy. They are not terrible for it just starting up, imagine once it has more reps and a larger resource library of failures and successes. Apple better get its act together and soon or it'll be worse off than the smart speaker competition.

I'm finding that Bing Chat is refusing to write blog posts for me, whereas ChatGPT-3 is happy to do it even though it can't search the internet and its data only goes back to 2019 or whatever.

This AI stuff is going to put so many people out of work. Creatives thought their incomes were pretty well protected against robotics and automation.

We're already seeing tech news sites firing people and using AI to help prepare content. They just use a few people to clean it up and correct obvious errors before publication.

I can see stuff like we see here producing on-demand stock photography. No need for agencies, photographers or real models. Just as Google mapped the world, they can photograph the world and then manipulate images on-demand using AI.

AI can help you complete complicated forms and tax returns which will disrupt financial services like accountancy. It can disrupt all kinds of professional services where expert advice is needed to solve complex problems.

Our world is set for radical change.
