Lighten up folks...

I hate Microsoft products with a passion but you know what? On a human level, I quite liked it. I thought Bill was pretty good in it.

Macs

Actually, the only thing this ad is going to do is make people wanna buy more macs.

I sure wouldn't wanna be buying from a company that keeps failing...

I like Bill Gates and (gasp) I even like Microsoft. I'm also a very happy Mac user since purchasing one several years ago.

This commercial doesn't resonate with me. In fact, I find it annoying. Bill is likable enough, but I spent the whole time trying to figure out what the point of the commercial was. Then, I get to watch Bill shake his ass which just turned my stomach. That's my reaction FWIW.

BTW - What is the point? Vista++ is going to be chewy like a cupcake? Apple could have a lot of fun with this....

If some advertising agency brought this to me, they would be fired.

31 pages of generally negative posts about a Microsoft ad in an Apple-centric forum. SHOCKING!!!:rolleyes:

Reading these comments are hillarious, it's actually quite sad. I guess you could say they did get attention, over 700 comments on the first ad. The amount of people who think the entire 10 million dollar campaign is this single ad is quite shocking, lots of intelligent people here

Ya, I'm guessing the ads will turn out to be an interesting story line. I though the ad was interesting (bordering on humorous).

Wow. Two old ppl talking about shoes..... and one shakes his but at the end..... this is supposed to tell me what??

..and increasing....:D

I'd agree if the commercial were funny. Maybe it would have been funny in 1998, but it is remarkably unfunny.

If you can't say anything nice...

I guess they couldn't figure out anything good to say about Microsoft's products so they decided to distract us with shoes (sort of the Republican convention strategy).

Been out of town for a few days, away from my computer and sadly, away from MacRumors.... Hmmm, but after watching this, it doesn't look like a I missed much !!!

Poor Jerry, does he need the money that badly... and Bill.... Bill, maybe there should be a point to this minute and a half MESS you had your people create. I mean, was there really a focus group who screened this spot and said... "That's it !! We hit it out of the park with this one. After almost 4 years of the 'I'm a Mac' commercials, are those Apple users gonna be sorry they messed with us !!"

Sad, sad, sad....

MS Ad is Smarter than it seems

This ad although it appears to be rediculously stupid is actually quite clever. My point is that, they want people to start talking about Microsoft again!!!

How do you get people to talk? You give them conversation topics. For instance:
"What was the point of that ad?"
"Why was he buying shoes?"
"I heard that the photo id was Bill Gates teenage mug shot."
"Delicious"

This is going to grab peoples attention and prep them for upcoming ads. The hardest part of advertising today is keeping the audiences attention. Believe me in this $300 million campaign, they are doing a good job of hyping the upcoming advertisements.

classic

it is not funny at all, has nothing to do with computers, makes both bill and the other guy look silly and is outdated. i think microsoft chose perfectly for their current and growing image.

like everything else M$ puts out there, this was long, confusing and not useful...

nah', just kidding, the ad wasn't that bad. lol

Being serious though, I agree with the above poster, this ad will get people talking, like the 700+ comments here. I'm sure they will be developing their ads as they progress, putting Seinfeld in different situations and making fun of little facts.

It reminds me of the Superman and Seinfeld ads for American Express.

If this ad campaign continues would it be permitted to say that Jerry and Bill are dating... or in the very least say Jerry is stocking Bill?

They weren't trying to educate you. They were trying to suck you in, which they did. Don't worry. The indoctrination will come next.

Ah. Well I am inoculated by TiVo so. :)

When I see a new Mac ad, I stop fast-forwarding and watch. When I see a new Microsoft ad, I will keep going.

i thought that this ad was slightly entertaining- but not very informative. Apple's ads for mac are very informative and still humorous. wtf did they meaning by a chewy cake-like computer? a revamped look or a edible computer? or maybe cupcakes with internet access im just not sure.

this won't help them sell any computers

It was absolutely dumb.

Whomever the ad agency is that did this should be jailed for stealing Gates' money. What this does to 'enahnce' the Windows brand is beyond me. I can't wait to see this parodied by the I'm a Mac commercials.

Horrible ad... it's as simple as that!

The funny thing is that MS is really trying to be creative like Apple and they fail miserably.

I like Seinfeld though:)

I liked the commercial as a commercial.

As something to be used to "counter" Mac's ads? Nahhh.

I think this commercial was just to get people to wonder "what's coming out in the future?"

Answer: Windows 7 (Windows Vista + multi-touch...epic fail)

I want that 90 seconds back. Was that meant to be humour I just watched? And why is MR now reporting irrelevant news? The front page is becoming a tabloid newspaper. Quality over quantity...or not?
