that is embarrassing for MS. I want to work with MS's marketing agency . They most likely earn a lot for this piece of s..t

What's funny is that the ad might have been lame, but the web is bursting with information about it.
I mean, look at us right now... negative feedback, sure, but we're at 829 posts in this thread alone and counting.
You're telling me that the biggest thread on this board in months is about MICROSOFT's boring commercial?
Just sayin'. People are funny little bugs. ;)

This is the best Crispin/Porter/BOGUSky could do?

So, the folks who brought the world subservient chicken and 'The King' ads pick up the Microsoft account and this is the best they can do?

Ouch. Hope it progresses better than this for them. $300 Million? Again, ouch!

Kinda reminds me of those Infinity commercials from a couple of decades ago. You know the ones that sold the "invisible car" :p

At that time, Jay Leno commented that the car wasn't selling well, but sales of trees and rocks have gone thru the roof. Hmmm ... Sales of Vista are poor, but cheep shoes are selling like hot cakes!!!

what on earth was that? does it actually tell anything about microsoft or sell churros and cheap shoes. i'm so confused. i hope m$ spent a lot of money on this . . . oh yeah, $10M for seinfeld . . . money well spent, boys . . .

Oh wow, worst ad ever? It reminds me of one of those crappy videos shot my a high school's AV department. I liked the old Windows XP ads that Microsoft ran a few years back, at least they were relevant to a Microsoft product.

The whole campaign is $300 million, which is not exactly what the agency is getting. And $10 million for Seinfeld is also for the whole campaign, not for this one spot.

After reading about Crispin, it should be interesting to see how the agency attacks with subsequent ads. Say what you want the agency but that company has been able to turn brands around quite successfully.

I didn't really get BK's king commercial the first time around but after a few different ads, we all know what he's about.

Maybe not such a dumb commercial?

I thought it was a dumb commercial when I saw it last night but today I find myself wearing a new pair of Conquistadors and I'm heading for the shower.

Churro Microsoft!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I'm not laughing because I thought the commercial was funny, insightful, etc...I'm laughing that they spent $10M and that's the best they could come up with. Like others have said, the commercial was horrible, pointless, ineffective, not funny at all, and I could see a LOT of people seeing it and wondering "what was that for?"

Typical Microsoft: Pathetic and ineffective.

I only watched it because of all the posts here. I imagine the average viewer would channel-surf right through it (or use it for a bathroom break.)

What a breathtaking waste of $10 mil. They could've hired some fresh young scriptwriters, a couple of unknown actors and had something snappy and entertaining. Instead it was a tired, backward-looking, pointlessly cluttered effort that trundled along with no real direction.

Like their product line:D

This doesn't do anything to change the image of Microsoft, it tries to change the image of Gates. It does a good job at that, I think. Of course the Apple ads make PC a rather likable character as well.

And the MS tie in at the end is just absurd, even by Seinfeld standards. There's been a lot of talk about him being a loyal Mac user-- could this be comedic sabotage?

I dunno-- I'm not a marketing expert... Maybe this is how you subliminally convince people a company is hip.

most of these responses seem a bit premature. there's a lot of ads that are meant to mature.. like, setting the stage and then filling in the pieces as they go...

I though it was brilliant, look how much buzz it generated already. It gained a lot of attention and got a lot of people talking, mission accomplished.

There will be sequel and it will get better and more focused on Vista.
