I have to say, even though these Ads are better than the Bill & Jerry nonsensical commercials, there is some confusion here:

PC = Personal Computer

Mac = Macintosh Operating System

Windows = Windows Operating System

Linux = Generic Linux Operating System(s)

IRIX = Generic Unix Operating System(s)

The point being is that in the "Mac vs PC" commercials Apple is comparing the Mac OS to a PC as in generic Personal Computer, they were wrong on part by directly relating a PC to Windows OS.

The mistake was possibly set intentionally by Apple Advertisers and Microsoft felts threatened and is advertising "I am a PC" why not "I am a Windows User." This is rather amusing.

Then again, "I am being PC" as in Politically Correct. ;):p:D

But, it appears that Mac seems to think that there are two types of computer users: People on a budget who aren't doing much serious work, and creative professionals willing to spend $3,000+ on a workstation. They're giving people like me, young professionals who need powerful systems but don't have the cash for the beast that is the Mac Pro, the shaft. Why isn't there a mid-range tower?

Firstly, it's Apple, not Mac. You were referring to "Mac" as the company. Secondly the answer to your question as to why no midrange tower? The next time you are on the Sony Vaio website, ask someone why Sony no longer makes towers? They only have AIO desktops.
Many people will only buy a Sony product and if they want a tower they have zero choices. Do not try and conveniently rule out Sony, they are a big player in the PC market, not to mention they are the most expense common Windows machine that offers nothing more than Dell. At least Apple offers something different to justify the price.

There's now the serious possibility that the new Google android platform for "Google droids" and the rest of the empire will fail.If Apple can break Microsoft just think what, over time, could happen to Google.I'd actually miss Google.

yawn. It lacks humor, and doesnt hold my attention. Also, its not very original...copying Apples "Im a mac" commercials with "im a pc" very creative Microsoft....

Since when was Microsoft ever creative.

Microsoft copying Apple, get out of town. :p;):D

Given the Ads will run stale pretty quickly, is there is no point other than saying that "Windows" or is it "PC" users are not stereotypical then again the same may be said for Macintosh users.

Chances are majority of these people not sure if they are users have either received via donation or loan trough they company a PC with Windows OS on it, no wonder there are so many users Microsoft is basically donating and giving away these "product" rather than Apple which I am not certain if they do or do not donate.

All these people look like they are forced to use Windows OS, since its either nothing or Windows OS. LOL. ;):p:eek::D

A few hours later ... I still think that is the best ad I've seen from Microsoft in a long time, but I think it's misguided.

I was watching it, and my son (12 years old, very computer aware, as an OSX and Ubuntu user, by way of his dad, not by personal choice) asked "Why are you watching another Apple ad, haven't you seen them all?"

I slyly told him this was a new one, and twisted the laptop to let him see. It didn't work out as I expected ... we were 3/4 of the way through be he realized it wasn't an Apple ad -- he's so used to "I'm a PC" coming from Apple.

I was sitting here watching the news, saw the latest "I'm a Mac" ,and thought the same thing -- they've taken it too closely; I see this Microsoft ad, and I think of Apple. If it worked I should be thinking of Microsoft.

I say the same thing I did with Jerry Seinfeld -- unless there is something more coming, they've failed. As a standalone it is good, but all they are doing is reminding people they are scared of what Apple is doing.

I came off a little Mac-bitter. Let me skew it a little more positively: I would love to own a mac. While I'm just starting out in the industry, it has immediately become clear to me that Final Cut dominates video right now.

Have you heard of Avid?? I think that dominates video from back in the day to right now - but in all fairness FCP is making in roads.

On the ads, I liked them all, including the Sienfeld ones, I like the abstract nature. The Apple ads by comparison come off like they are looking down their nose at people using PC's. That's lame.

If you need a workstation, why don't you make a hackintosh? I can't be a slave to Apple paying over the odds for a Mac Pro, when I can build one at a similar spec for almost half the price!

BTW I've been using Apples for years and yes, I still do.

Oh, there it is. But it's not a lie is it?

I actually prefer viewing sales figures rather than users, since a company regardless can donate thousands of PC with they OS and claim to inaccurately skew they user-base.

This is why I feel Windows OS has an unfair advantage, its is not a level playing field if companies report user-base figures since they do not omit donated or loaned Windows based PC.

Apple is such a cocky company. They're going to come back with an ad directly countering this one. I can't wait to see what they do. I was a PC from 1997-2008. Just got my first mac in august 2008 and I love it. I didn't switch because I had a problem, I just wanted to be as knowledgable and comfortable with OS X as I am with Windows. Now I'm a "computer guy".

I enjoyed every ad!!!
Fantastic!!!

I WELCOME COMPETITION!!!
I WELCOME CHALLENGE!!!
I'd love if somebody would kick ass of my beloved Apple!!!
THAT'S ALL FOR GOOD PEOPLE!!!!!!

The problem with whatever point Gates is trying to make here is that he's showing everyday people that have everyday jobs that involve the use of a PC. Well the sad part is that it says nothing about why a Windows machine would be the ideal choose for these everyday people?

Let's see, I'm a PC and I blog, I'm a PC and I do design tall buildings, I'm a PC and I connect with the rest of the world, I'm a PC and sell sex. Well all of that can be done on ANY computer so why choice a Windows machine??? This ad does nothing.

At least with Apple's campaign you always know when the Apple commercial comes on, they always use a white background with 2 guys, or a white background with an iPod or iPhone. Apple's ads are catchy and fun, that's what sells.

Another poster said Apple should now change their ads? BS. When the competition addresses your ads (Microsoft to Apple) then you must be doing something right.

Yup got your points,
So I think Apple should continue, though I'd enjoy if they take offense - and/or react somehow, change something.
Of course in an Apple's beautiful way - no less!

Yet I don't think MSFT has no point with those,
at least they take their public face back,
and you right - it's not selling more PC's, maybe because they have the market anyway? ;)))

Ah! Help me, I am being converted, I don't want to convert!

Those three ads have been done well! Show how PC is about people, and not how good the OS is!

If you need a workstation, why don't you make a hackintosh? I can't be a slave to Apple paying over the odds for a Mac Pro, when I can build one at a similar spec for almost half the price!

And twice the amount of problems. You shouldn't build a hackintosh to do any real work, you will greatly regret it. You would actually recommend someone creating their workstation by building hackintosh? Come on!

That ad sucks.

All they say is Im a PC. So what can we conclude from that? a WIDE range of people are stupid ignorant idiots who wont explore the alternatives?

Plus the beginning Hodgeman look alike was cringe worthy.

They dont explain how their product is better, they simply say alot of people use their product. Alot of people also buy Hyundai's, doesnt mean its the better alternative to a BMW.

A lot of people buy Hyundai's over BMWs because they're cheaper! Just like PC gets more sales because it's cheaper! But what's better? MAC AND BMW. OH MY GOD! o_O

I liked the ad

Its true (Windows has totally vast user base) and it suggests that Apple is actually more stereotypical than Windows (which at end of the day is probably true given the price range of macs.

Windows looks cooler now

I like it'd it. Great response. Of course the flamboyant fanboys will think it's lame though regardless.

Now that Bill and Jerry ads.. those were lame.

microsoft doesn't get it. we don't use macs because the computers and the people that use them are perceived as cool... we use them because they are superior in design, are stable, and are more efficient than anything that is out there today. if microsoft wants to play the cool kid, then let them, but their products still suck.

stupidist commercial ever, at least the ones with seinfeld were somewhat funny! Im a PC and I crash all the time, have a crappy OS, and I need to reboot or defrag weekly!!

Have you heard of Avid?? I think that dominates video from back in the day to right now - but in all fairness FCP is making in roads.

BTW I've been using Apples for years and yes, I still do.

I'm aware of Avid, though I've never been able to work with it. But my understanding is that it's a hardware/software solution, making it even less accessible to me than a decent Final Cut system. I guess what I meant was that for the entry level editor and most small production houses FCP is quickly becoming the standard. It's better than Premiere, that's for sure.

Hackintosh would be great if it weren't for the fear that an update would stop it from working. And just bypassing updates is an option, but Apple has managed to stick QuickTime on my computer more times than I can count... if I can't keep the updates off of my PC, the chances of keeping their updates off of a hacked OS X are slim.

And having said that, only the stupidest system builder or tinkerer would not do their research and pay $500 for a 2 gig memory upgrade.

Which means that Apple thinks that most of the people who want a little bit more out of their top of the line system are that stupid.

While watching the ad I felt like I wanted something to happen and never got it. Sure, all those people use PCs, but what does that do for me?
