I liked the MS ad! Pretty good!

And yes, Pharrell is a Mac user but who wouldn't turn down some $$$ for 2 seconds in an ad? lol... I don't think Pharrell is a fanboy like some on here, no matter how much of an :apple: fan I am, if MS came up to me with a wad of cash, I would star in the ad just to say 'I'm a PC'

The essence of Apple's ads is about the computers, not the people who use them.

If Apple is specifically showcasing the computers and not the people, why does the PC wear glasses and a tie and look like an older dork, while the Mac looks like a "hip" and "cool" dude? To make you think "cool" people use Macs and not PCs! It's all very obvious...

I'm a Mac user (music production), but I can think for myself, and realize Apple's ads are at their core just branding adverts masked as product ads (most of the Mac "advantages" and PC "flaws" they gloat about are largely inacurate or great exaggerations anyway), to make people relate Apple with "coolness." Microsoft is just hitting back with a portrayal of "real" people who use PCs. The whole thing has NOTHING to do with the computers. Microsoft is straightforward and honest about it in their ads, Apple is not and disguises it.

ROFL, awful. MS has nothing on apple's ads. they're lame, unoriginal and boring.

Phase II of Microsoft's $300 million rebranding ad campaign started airing tonight during prime time. The ad showed a series of individuals saying "I'm a PC" in various settings.

The ad is a direct response to Apple's "Get a Mac" ads where Justin Long and John Hodgman play the Mac and PC characters, respectively. Microsoft is embracing the "I'm a PC" line in their new ad campaign. The ad is presently being hosted at Gizmodo.

Wow, that ad is shockingly focused and well done. The Seinfeld ads were completely off the mark, but these could actually do a lot to turn things around for M$, assuming they stick it out for longer than 2-3 weeks.

It's a nice response to Apple's ads, but it lacks the elegance and wit that Apple Ads have.

Exactly. And that's why it's not going to do any good. Just like the ads lack elegance and wit, Windows lacks elegance, wit, style, usability, intuitiveness, etc.

You can make all the great ads you want (and these are great) but if your product is still Windows, it's still Windows.

Micosoft follows Apple's lead. Again.

same old same old

I think the ads are good they're just not great.

First by trying to answer Apple's attack they are put on the defensive. Not cool It's like someone running around saying, "I'm cool". Which by it's very nature is not cool.

Secondly, I think they nail the Windows brand. Don't try to be original just copy what Apple is doing.

"I'm a PC and I settle for second best."

It's funny how Microsoft is referring to this new ad as "Phase 2" of their marketing campaign.

I didn't see it as much Phase 2 as Service Pack I. I thought it reeked less than the first Seinfeld one, that actually isn't really saying much.

Entertaining, I guess. Although the inference that "I'm a PC and blah blah blah" is a bit weird; the Mac ads are about computers characterized as humans with human stereotypes whereas the PC ads inferring that they are PCs that are doing human jobs too.

Kinda weird.

It just boils down to there are a lot of Windows users everywhere. You don't need to fit into a stereotype but Windows lets you do what you want.

I'm shocked. Microsoft must have had some recession issues because it seems as though their accounting department created this. There is no creativity at all! Plus, Pharrell is a Mac guy anyways. LAME!

All lot better then their Phase 1, but how unoriginal to use the "I'm A PC" phrase, couldn't they come up with something different.

BTW, I think they're boring to watch and they won't be a success and stand out like the I'm A Mac ads.

Awesome...

No Windows

We use Windows at work. Biggest piece of garbage ever. Just freezes for no reason, acts inconsistently, and its superweak against spyware and hacking.

These commercials make me want to buy a Mac EVEN MORE.

Uh.. that's kind of the point. They're lashing back at Apple's stereotyping of the typical PC user.

i thought it was good. and to me reading responses on here the majority of them epitomize what ms is saying. they're saying i'm a pc and people living in every walk of life use this and it suits there needs.
the i'm a mac i'm a pc ads say here we are in front of a plain white background and mac is a little less boring. it's like if that makes you feel cool then that's your choice. pretty effective i would say.

We use Windows at work. It works great and I have none of those problems. Your IT department must really suck, or maybe you're using Windows 95.

I use a Mac at home. It works great too!

I am a PC & Mac!
:D

Great ad!!

I like the moment with the beard and the french guy that sells fish LOL
In my opinion, the main message is that PCs are much more diverse then Macs (it's also true).

Anyway, cool Ad M$!

Waiting for the next ads... from both companies.

Okay, great.

So 30 people in a commercial from all around the world, in every environment possible tell me they use a PC. Just because they use it doesn't mean it is good. I'd say 95% of people who use a PC just don't know anything else...

Exactly how do these commercials make you go out and buy Windows?

It's like going to a self help group for a disease. The point of the commercial was to let all those with leprosy, er, those who use Windoze know that they are not alone...

Remember group meetings, every tues/thurs, 7-8:30 PM.

"Windows ... Life Without Walls"

How can you have a window without a wall to stick it in? :D

I thought it was a pretty good attack.
Who wants to bet next Get a Mac ad has PC sporting a beard and holding a fish?

Uh.. that's kind of the point. They're lashing back at Apple's stereotyping of the typical PC user.

I know, but I personally think they are doing it all wrong.
This ad isn't really saying anything except "I use it too, so you don't have to be ashamed"

Your point being? A mouse is still a mouse, and his point was that MS somehow "stole" the idea from Apple.

I agree with that, but if the design, and the use of it are completely different then its not copying. A Copy is an exact duplicate.

Besides it turns out that Apple 'supposedly' didn't get it from PARC after all. This guy supposedly invented the mouse working for another company, in conjunction with NASA. And he doesn't give what year, but Apple licensed it from the company he developed it for, for $40,000. [info, below the pic of his mouse.] So, i think we might be wrong?

Father of the Mouse.
