i can't get the ad out of my head.

vista looks like a premium product now for me.

i don't understand why. i want to study psychology now so that i can understand why this weekend i'm going to buy a pc with vista.

:(

So what if it's a mini series?

They don't need to 'get their point across'. They're used by 95% of the planet.

WRONG

Window base is only 80 to 85% and Apples OS make the rest of 10 to 15% and rising.. And no I not a Mac fanboy. I was a Window user for 8+ years and just switch to Mac a year ago..

it's ok, i guess... sienfeld is always pretty funny to me, but gates can't act to save his life. this is probably too in depth....

i just dont see anything in the ad that would make anyone want to buy a pc with windows. no selling points = waste of money

isn't the 10% to 15% apple users only in the USA?

i can't picture businesses in other countries using apple for some reasons...

Well, it's more of 90%W, 8.5%M, 1.5%O in US; 95%W, 4%M, 1%O worldwide. (Very roughly estimated.), I guess.

Apple ads used to be racy, edgy, and really made you watch and pay attention. I personally think the "PC vs. Mac" deal has had its time.

Don't forget this classic. I worked at HP in their office productivity division when this came out. This one piece kicked off a huge project at HP to see what they could do to make this vision a reality. It's still an inspiration today.

The commercials are amusing and entertaining - bottom line. Sure they make no sense in terms of selling Vista but they show a lighter side of MS and I really think thats the whole point. Honestly - no matter how much you love Apple - watching Bill Gates "power down" has to make you smile.

And (I'm going to get in trouble for saying this) at no point in the commercial do they bash the competition in order to look better and I find that refreshing and fun ::ducks for cover::

How is telling the truth about the competition be called bashing.. Bashing is making up lies not telling real facts.. I sorry if the truth hurts but the Apple ads are true and this is coming from a pasted user of Windows for 8+ years..

Uh... what I took away from this is that Bill Gates hates his customers. And they hate him.

Not a good ad.

i feel embarrassed that i use macs every time i see those commercials. does anybody feel this way?

No. In fact, I'd say if your self-image is in any way wrapped up with any commercial (all of which--including every single one Apple has ever produced--suck) you're probably a) taking them too seriously or b) watching too much TV.

These commercials make you think too much about the point they want to get across. Symbolism is littered everywhere. It's going to be fun to pick through all of this...

A lot less annoying then the majority of the Get a Mac ads. Most of them make me cringe.

by embarrassed i mean that i say to myself after watching a mac commercial: "Am i really supporting this bullsh*t?"

Well Japan hates Microsoft.. I bet other businesses in other Asian countries feels the same way.. Microsoft has screwed them to much to a point they do not like MS...

and, yes, i am buying a vista pc this weekend because these commercials have made me realize that it is actually a fresh product, and people have been saying it is crap without ever having used it.

Great Ad

I think this was a strong ad and really setting the scene for the future series. They're clearly trying to counter the Apple "PC" characterization - quite effectively neutering the Get a Mac campaign.

Not to everyone's taste and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this view but will be interesting to see where they go with this campaign.

This is not an advert - and its not funny.
Its a series of non-sequiturs, but it still isnt amusing. Its actually grossly self-congratulatory and is an ideal way for someone to explain the egotism and pointlessness of rich people.

The message of the ad might be "Dumb people with dull lives like Windows - smart people with interesting lives like Macs - which computer do you want?"

$300 million for this? Oy.

if you are a business anywhere in the world, aren't your only options windows or linux? and in japan, i would guess that windows is being used more, because of the software that has been built on it.

and in germany almost everyone i knew had a windows pc.
