Because they created software or a chip to emulate the apple one, I am not sure. I don't really know all the in's and out's of the Apple hardware and software, but I am willing to learn about it.

Sorry, no. You are referring to the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip, which Apple included on the early Intel-based Macs. It was never used for anything and was dropped from Mac designs in October 2006. See the following for more information:

Edit: The very first solutions to run Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware did work around the TPM chip on motherboard of the Developer Transition Kit, but this was not a production Mac. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSx86)

Are you kidding me? This thread changed from talking about the commercial too talking mad crap on Vista and instead of everyone hating on the commercial a lot of people actually like it and they are on a all mac forum? That should say something.

By the way I don't love Windows or Microsoft I like computers OS's in general, that means Windows, OSX, Linux - Ubuntu, Unix - FreeBSD. I don't have a hatred that blinds me like so many people on here who just hate on the success of Microsoft. :D

It's too late to sit on the fence franticly waving your arms up and down yelling "I love everybody, let's end this fighting"Way too late for that. No,now the battle of Apple and Microsoft is at a hairs whisker from Apple leaping ahead of Microsoft in yearly revenue, they'll be a fierce defense by Microsoft and that's what we would expect from such a giant loosing it's stranglehold (a WHOPPERing $300 million defense, that's a positive signal to Apple right there!) posters here are just reflecting this epic battle, which leaves such huge pickings for Apple.Angry Softies are in reality just echoing there owners demise.
Peace,but just not quite yet!

No need to be sorry but I was right that they did use a chip the TPM chip you just talked about. So even though my information might be old I was right :D

I also like to give my feedback on the commercial, although I didn't find it completely funny I did laugh a little at certain parts. I did find it kinda awkward for Bill in certain scenes where he looked kinda out of place like when they both caught the dad eating the mustard or the doing the robot scene I mean damn could he be any more stiffer lol. But over all I do think it will help their image a little, was it worth the money they spent I don't think so but time will only tell. I will admit I am interested what the next one will look like and I will watch it when it comes out. I also will admit I support some Microsoft product I own a Vista and XP machine.

I think I was the only one who said I support Microsoft.

Not really. Go to the links I posted and read for more information. First, as I said, that was not actually on a Mac. Secondly, it was only used for Rosetta - remember that this was during the transition from PPC to Intel, so if you couldn't get your PPC apps to run on Intel hardware you were pretty much out of luck. But it was not used to check whether you were running on Apple hardware. And it was never used for anything on actual Mac products, and dropped from the design after only a few months.

I think I was the only one who said I support Microsoft.

I'm posting this right now from XP running on my Macbook. ;)

Okay if its too late then I will choose the side of the company I respect more than apple. Microsoft :D

Oh please, Apple ain't even a twinkle in the eye of Microsoft and when you say leaping ahead of Microsoft you do mean in their dreams right? Microsoft still holds a larger dominance in the desktop and server market than Apple and all they can do is only dream about it. Apple is for college kids who don't know any better and one day will realize they are tools to get the job done. Not toys.

On another note (about toys) Apple will always get worked by Microsoft when they don't cater to Gamers and Game Developers. It's funny too because Steve Jobs used to work for Atari didn't he. Hahaha :) I hope all of you think about that one really good.

Apple is actually quite big now!

Apple,as you say,may be a twinkle in Microsofts eye,but that's a pretty big twinkle,so big it could probably be compared to a train!
Apple is currently valued at aproximately 3/5 as of, that of Microsoft and next years annual revenue for Apple will be well over half that of Microsofts $60 billion (it wouldn't surprise me if Apple pulls in nearly $40 billion) The simple fact is,is that Apple is rapidly moving forward and has enormous growth prospects. Microsoft can only dream of keeping their OS afloat, to keep their expansion going (that and a $1 billion dollar mess with xbox plus profits) Remember too, Apple is expected to pull in $1 billion by 2009 if current downloads carry on as fast as they have been, through the app store. My guess is that demand will keep escalating, as more people discover the iPhone, in more countries and as more apps offer more to more people. Apple may only be getting 30% of that revenue for all I know, but it's got huge appeal to attract MS customers with ever increasing profits. I wouldn't be surprised if Applle actually cuts it's share of the revenue to 15% given it's remarkable success,to encourage further innovation on the part of it's developers.
Oh,your right about gaming too, thankfully. Apples next step-to have the best games. In how long? I hear you scream. About two years. That should steal more than just one or two MS die hards, don't you think?
Even though it's just scare talk about the toys for college kids, which you so quickly ADOPTED!!It was none the less excruitiatingly funny for you to brag about MS's wonderfull computers for gaming! Who needs games when there's stuff like that to enjoy!

"Thinkovation flowers"

Update-New Microsoft ad.

Apples not saying in their ads that Microsofts customers are convaluted and riddled with viruses (though I suspect the majority of them are (joke))They're saying their PC's are!Once again Microsoft gets it all wrong and leaves Apple unhindered to continue their ads.Bad move Microsoft!

Yes, NT's "ancient and decrepit" core was released in 1993, whereas Apple's core is BSD from 1978.

I can't argue with that, but think that and the OPs argument is quite silly.

Reminds me of the age old RISC v.s. CISC debate from the old Mac (and Intel / AMD user) Zealot days. As with the operating system "core" argument, it is absolutely pointless as both sets of platform / software elements have evolved quite a bit over the years.

I always enjoy reading Aiden's posts as they are usually quite informative, however I wish there was a touch less venom in them at times ;) .

And for the record, I am a Mac and a PC  .

Its a Micro$oft ad, its as funny as Vista is reliable.

I would have to agree. I've never had any reliability problem with Vista, and I found the ads hilarious :). Lucky you didn't try to make that comparison with Leopard!

He, he.

Vista works fine as long as you are not a retarded user trying to use 8 year old software and peripherals with it. Oh, wait, I forgot, Apple does such a great job of protecting their previous users. Anyone look at the latest Macbook and its missing Firewire port?? How about just about every version of OSX that alienated another piece of hardware or another application...

Gotta love how Apple does such an awesome job of brainwashing their users...
