Also, throw in a phone with 3G! that will make wonders especially when paired with a Bluetooth!

Well.. 3G would probably fall for WiMax and VOIP eventually!

LOL, you want to use this thing as a phone? Really?

I guess 3G for data would sit well with me, though, but no way in hell will I be dialling numbers on that thing or take calls with that thing up to my ear as I'm walking down the street.

Can Microsoft follow through?

Concept is one thing, and implementation is another. We'll see how big of a flop this thing is when it comes out.

I would get this, but then I would immediately have second thoughts because all the sync software would probably be only functional for Microsoft applications, and not Apple Mail, iCal or iWork.

But it really does show that Apple can't put their company on autopilot anymore which it seemed to be on for the last 16 months, lacking the innovation and "wow" keynotes that we'd see on a frequent basis before.

Anyone who's been around long enough will see this footage has all the signs of a typical Microsoft marketing puff piece. Do you remember Origami? Natal? Surface?

Microsoft operating systems are too bloated and slow to make an interface like this work, it's just another attempt to convince shareholders that their research money isn't being wasted.

Ignore it. Nothing of value will come of it.

I do remember them..you realize Origami and Surface both exist (the Origami "experience" and you can buy Surface). There's also no reason to believe Natal won't be coming. It was huge at E3 and has been used on late night TV shows. It's coming.

It will be here the same month Duke Nukem Forever arrives. :D

Oh I agree to. I think it is coming. I don't know when, but I think it is coming.

Apple 0, Microsoft 1

Apple is probably farther behind than that. All we have from Apple is the usual nothing. The rumor sites keep saying that Apple will come out with a NetBook sized computer. But that hasn't happened yet. They also said that the new iPod Touch would for sure come with an iPhone type of camera. So since the only source we have for an Apple NetBook is these same rumor sites the score is really: Apple 0, Microsoft 4 or so.

Life is changing. Apple is becoming the stagnate company & Microsoft is becoming the company that is trying to innovate. But since Apple has been doing a better job of copying Microsoft of late, we know that eventually Apple will get back to doing dome innovation.

This comes from an over 25 year Mac User. Plus my only Windows native computer is my Intel Mac Pro.

Are you serious???

Apple delivers products. Not 3D renderings and multimedia concept demos. I'm sure Apple could puke up a whole bunch of this kind of stuff if they wanted to, some of which would probably blow your mind (and most of it never becoming actual products). Surely they have terabytes of this stuff in their labs. But Apple doesn't operate that way. They announce products near launch day.

Just because Apple doesn't leak concepts (a classic Microsoft FUD tactic) doesn't mean they are stagnant. WTF. Seriously.

And because Apple hasn't yet delivered on a rumor it's somehow a mark against them???

Let's see Microsoft actually deliver a product before we hail them the new king of innovation, hmm???

These MS renderings and video are all smoke and mirrors at this point. Anyone could have produced something like this.

Love the concept, but I still have major issues with such a device from MS.

1. I am left handed, and I feel that it could be awkward to write on the right screen.

Then turn the device around or write on the other screen.*
It would be bad design from MS if you had to open this thing then make sure you had it the right way up before it worked.

Well it might be good if MS can pull off a good full widget product. It seems like this concept shows potential.
Yep stir up the OEMs they normally partner with and rev up whole industry.
Then we have to see what Google might be working with and the same partners for their launch.

Plus Apple and the mystic Tablet thingy. Bring on 2010 could well be a turning point year.

*Yes I'm left handed too, and look forward to no more ink strained cuffs.
I still think it's funny that everyone uses their mouse left handed all because artist who drew the apple instruction manual graphics was left handed.

this is it. This form-factor is perfect - at least for today's tech.

f**king genius, like a digital diary that could run OS X, let one read a book in nearly the exact way one reads a book now...read e-mail, have multiple monitors, etc. etc. etc. No big deal carrying around a journal, right? So, I think it would be also no big deal to make the device book-thick in order to have the proper sized battery, screen, hardware, etc.

I hope whatever Apple is releasing in the future is along these lines...b/c, I think, I'd ditch my iPhone/iPod touch and laptop for one of these - assuming, of course, that it met the needs those devices fulfilled.

and, of course, if M$ releases it first..and copyright/patents it...then, it will be teh suck.

hi bill gates. Thanks for your daily dose of FUD. Troll. :apple: :)

edit: dome innovation? As in, a dome for a yurt? Perhaps you mean "dome" as in the slang for bald men...making wigs? MS making wigs? eh, please clarify.

Apple users can spout all sorts of ******** on these forums about MS yet they won't receive the title you gave this poster. On a site filled with troll behaviour trolling is the norm. To be called a troll you just have to say something that doesn't fit the party line.

Yet to consistently and without fail (which you do) rage against the "party line" - in this site's case being Apple and its products - does indeed land one squarely in the troll category. How about that. The boot just happens to fit.

Troll Different.

although i like the idea, this multi tablet would be more for making quick notes. I doubt it will be useful for students who needs to jolts down pages of notes from their lecturer quickly

a pilot g2 pen writing on a piece of paper > stylus on a glass pad

*looks at Zune HD*

Yup. They delivered.

*looks at lack of Apple tablet*

Nope. Not yet.

Ahhhhhh....let the fanboys begin...
From a competition standpoint, this is freaking great. Lots of people might compare this to iPod/Zune war, but the key difference is that Apple and Microsoft's products could be introduced at similar times- meaning much more comparisons and (hopefully) improvements for both.

I'm just damn suprised we hadnt heard of this sooner- this is already in the prototype stage. Score one for Microsoft.

I just watched the video....damn, this thing is killer. I'm excited. And personally, I like the "booklet", folding in half idea better than a large, flat tablet.
I hope this really jacks up Steve and Co. to bring a new level to the MacTablet.

Well we know I. T. Departments will be upgrading to win 7, tranlation, so will everyone else. The thing that could boogle the mind, as win mobile 6.5 is more osx looking then win 7, is that if msft releases this as their own, this would be their first computer hardware which could be groundbreaking.

The more I think about the new msft stores the more I think this might be true as they will be selling computers.

Could be a game changer. Big time. No worry of 20,000 motherboard makers. Just theirs.

If this had an apple logo on it, all the fanbois would be praising it and getting their wallets ready instead of bagging it out, full stop.
