I can't wait for Office 2011. I'd also like Office for iPad, and a MSN Messenger App for the iPhone.

I'm not sure how the hell this is supposed to work. An iPhone/iPad emulator for Windows would be one thing, but how in the hell are you supposed to debug a Mac app in Windows? It would be kind of a pain to code in VS and move it to OS X to debug, fix something, and do it all over again.
I think it's more likely they'll talk about the new version of MS Office, be it OS X or iPad.
GOOGLE IS EVIL, don't forget that.
I don't think it would be a bombshell I imagine Office would incorporate printing at least. But I kind of like Office better than iWork. Apple is a creative company and is not good at business programs like iWork. Microsoft can't make a proper OS.
Sounds like we better start getting Anti-Virus running. Steam moved over, Auto Cad thats a huge one, and Visual Studio!!!! I may have to turn my firewall on.

Will they play this Jobs segment when Ballmer's on stage?
"The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste. They have absolutely no taste. And I don't mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way, in the sense that they don't think of original ideas, and they don't bring much culture into their products."
What did Google ever do to you?![]()
It would be GREAT to see SB on stage with SJ...if true, this is gonna be an incredibly intelligent move by Apple in terms of the potential developer community, especially NOW that MS is the soon-to-be-poor underdog; we need to give them a hand, guys
GOOGLE IS EVIL, don't forget that.
MS IS ALIVE. AND SO IS APPLE.

So who's got the last laugh now, Winblows droids? Have you got enough crow? I have been saying this for a LONG time, that Apple would surpass MS SOONER than later!
So now is the perfect occasion for all MS fanboys to stop infesting this forum and spreading their FUD.
MS IS DEAD. AND SO IS GOOGLE.
Sent from my wonderful iPad!
P.s.: Tks for the news, Apple; today is my B-day..!
Wow![]()
Gates has already admitted as much.
At D7, when Jobs and Gates were asked what they admired most about the others company, Jobs said something like Microsofts ability to partner with others, and Gates said something like the way Apple brings culture to their products.
Microsoft will reportedly be talking about their development tool Visual Studio 2010. The new version of Visual Studio will reportedly allow developers to write native applications for the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS.
The move would be a big surprise given Apple and Microsoft's competitive history. In addition, the announcement of PC-based development suite for iPhone and Mac OS would be major announcement. At present, developers may only create iPhone and Mac OS applications from within Apple's own Xcode development suite which only runs on Macs.
WTF? Does anybody else think that this so called analyst pull this out of his ass to get clicks? I mean come on, it makes absolutely no sense.
The only way this make sense is that the analyst made a mistake and was actually talking about Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, not VS Studio 2010 but then he went on to talk about compiling for iPhone OS, which again could be related to Office being on iPad and not the actual compiler.
We'll see.
How is saying they like how Apple brings culture (think he actually said style) to products, "pretty much admitting" they themselves have no taste and cant innovate?
I hope this is true. Although, I've already spent the dough to buy an intel mac book and a mac mini to run xcode. Shoulda waited a little while.
The announcement is likely to be that Silverlight will be available on the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone. This is an Apple/MS counter to the Google/Adobe announcement earlier.
Culture, style, and taste are all fairly synonymous to me at least in this context.
As for cant innovate I ignored it, because its not entirely true.
I don't think it's silverlight either for all the same reasons it's not VS and they don't want Flash.
Apple is NOT bringing VS to the Mac or iPhone development to Windows. What would be their motivation? Is the app store short on apps right now? No. Would Apple port the .net runtime to the iPhone (most langs in the Windows world now compile to .net IL)? No, for the same reasons they don't want to let Adobe compiled apps on the iPhone - control. Apple is currently leveraging iPhone development into people buying more Macs. There is zero chance they are going to give up on that leverage.
Applications must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine, and only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited).
