Let's talk.here for all who are interested a review from anandtech of the U2711
..sometimes it pays to use "older" technology
If you want something a little smaller, or if you have a need for 30-bit color support, the U2711 is a better buy than anything else currently on the market. This is a great high resolution display that delivers on the quality and features fronts, and we're pleased to award the Dell U2711 our Gold Editors' Choice award.

and Apples 27" cinema display to compare as thats exactly what you get in the iMac too

then we can talk again about "old" technology
I just got my u2711. I'm seeing a green to reddish tint from right to left. The whites are definitely different from side to side. Its pretty easy to see but I circled two areas where you can see the different tints. Anyone else have this problem?
The AG coating on this monitor sucks and looks even rougher next to the imac. My wife noticed this without me saying anything the first time she sat down. (she almost packed up and left me when she saw the portrait setup, its a little awesome and kinda useless at the same time)
I am coming from a 3007wfp I have had for 4 years. The u2711 is better on the color and brightness but white pages and text still sparkle just the same.
I have not read one review that mentions anything about this. It is about time someone nailed them for this. It sucks.
The picture looks great, but does anyone else have an issue with the bottom most menu button light flickering/blinking on and off? It's a small nitpick, but it's starting to annoy me since it happens right at the edge of my peripheral vision.
My first u2711 had green tint i right upper corner. The replacement, second u2711 had warm yellow tint in the middle of the display. I returned and got my money back.
My friend also bought u2711 and his had the even worse yellow tint in the middle of the screen.
Remind something, ain't it?
