My iMac #4 is a keeper, absolutely minimal shadowing, and an even warm'ish color across the entire panel, with no difference in tint high/low vs left/right what so ever.

No defects or issues that i can spot.

I'm satisfied...at last :D

I notice that sometimes towards the bottoms of forums it looks a little yellowish and other times it doesn't.

And I'm on my second iMac.

If this only effects whites I'm keeping it...I don't do photoshop or anything so I don't NEED the PERFECT of PERFECT screens...but obviously it would be nice to have.

My pixel test was good...and minimal backlight in corners. (but I haven't seen 1 perfect backlight test)

So does this effect anything other than whites? (and the grays test?)

Well, it will affect the color temperature of anything that's displayed in that area of the screen. It's most prominent on whites and you'd probably never notice it while watching a movie, etc.

Since I edit photos, I would end up cooling off the bottom third of every image to match the top of the display and they'd look mighty odd when printed!

Yeah I meant for movies, etc.
I only notice with the whites though. So since I'm not doing what you are and editing an imagine for long amounts of time where I need 100% accuracy I think I'll be fine.

Yeah. Mine bothered me when viewing forums, Google, Word documents, etc. since 99% of the web and productivity apps feature a lot of white. I definitely could not tolerate that.

I posted my Pics here.

How did yours compare to this?

I feel like it's yellower sometimes than normal again...It's only 2 weeks old though...you think it's just in my head haha?

Feel like mine was worse.

Just received the new one, a 2011 vs. 2010. I think the yellowing is better, but it's hard to compare even with them side-by-side because the colour temperature is quite different and the screen on the 2010 seems to be much brighter.

That said, noticing a quite prominent shadow bard above the dock, especially on white. So this is quite disappointing. Beginning to think buying an iMac was the wrong choice.

Can you post a picture?

Just got a new 2011 21,5" today and the yellow bleeding is pretty bad. It is on a large scale, almost 3/4 of the bottom of the screen. Bottom left is all good, but when you start looking at the bottom right corner you can see a nice gradient effect taking place.

edit: Here is a picture I took from a forum that clearly shows the difference between the top and bottom. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5794703/imac_yellow_tint.jpg

Be interested on peoples opinions on my iMac please. I've been looking that much that I honestly don't know if there's yellowing or not!!!
There is the bar across the bottom, but I can live with that.b Also the pink is from the SL background.

It's really hard to tell if there is any yellow in the pictures because of staring my own pics for such a long time. :)
If I received that screen you have and after checking our those pictures, I would keep that one. My personal opinion.

In other news, the carrier is picking up my faulty iMac today and the new one will be hopefully shipped today also. :D

Thanks bud, I've actually decided to keep it. If there is any yellowing, it's so minimal. Now I've started using it properly I just don't notice the shadow at the bottom either. It's nowhere near as bad as some on here, so I'm happy.
Machine is SO good as well, makes the screen on my 2009 MBP look sooooo low res!! I was just thinking the other day how beautiful it was compared to friends laptops. Lightning fast as well.

I was thinking about getting a refurbished mid 2011 21' iMac.

I am sure it is one of those that has been sent back by unhappy customers.

Would you expect these ones to be in perfect conditions now?

I used to have the original 27-incher (it was fine btw). Seeing this thread is disheartening, I thought they would have moved past this problem long ago.

I just got a replacement 21,5" iMac and the screen is OK. If I search for the yellow tint I can see it, but I have decided not to care about the yellowing and use my Mac. Everything is now so much easier. :)

Let me guess.. You work for Apple. Trying to tell people it's ok to keep a $1500-$2500 machine that is defective out of the box !

Not working for Apple. Just fed up with waiting for another replacement iMac to arrive, so I decided to keep this one as the tinting is not bad.

And yes, it's ridiculous that a computer of this price range has a defective screen even today, when the problems go back to 2009.

Just think how many more IMACS Apple could sell if the screens didn't have the Yellow tint problem. Face it LG 27" LED screens suck.

I dunno about that. Apple sells millions of iMacs every quarter, and there are only a handful of people posting here complaining about their screens (despite the fact that the problem obviously affects like 1/3 of the 27" iMacs, from what I've seen). I think the sad conclusion is that the vast majority of people just don't notice the yellow, or don't care...
