try taking an actual photo rather than a screenshot because i think if you take a screenshot and somebody opens it, you just end up looking at your own screen rather than what you see, if that makes sense.

That definitely looks better!

thanks, yours looks almost perfect, wish i had that one. Oh well, gonna keep my replacement, at least it's better than the first one. Now i have to call apple to get my shipping labels., fun.

i just got my BTO imac i7 with 2gb of GPU on the 18th of may and i cant really tell if mine have a yellow tint....so im letting you expert see if there is any screen problem with my imac.

note:

1st photos was taken at night no lights at all
2nd photos was taken the next day

If YOU can't see it, than don't bother ;)

first 2 photos was a screen shot
3-4th photos is from my camera
5th photos was a screen shot with white background

you may have some slight 'reddish' on the left side of the screen like me, but if you find it ok, then don't worry about it.

that didn't work, think im going to have to take a picture of it. Check these out.

You can see the one on the left has a slight reddish tint in the upper left corner and the imac on the right has the yellow tint pretty bad on the bottom half.

I'm gonna keep the one on the left. It's not perfect but it will have to do.

did you order yours online, if you do, would they send you a replacement first b4 you return the that needs to be replaced?

Looks like you may have some yellow, but it's hard to tell based on the pics you posted. Check it out using this site as well:

I am getting ready to buy my 27" iMac next week during the back to school special, but I'll be checking this thread until then and then posting my results once I have mine. Admittedly I was a little hesitant just because although the Apple store is only a few miles away, I have no car so I would have to find a ride (I live in a college town where everyone walks or gets free bus fare with their college ID), and certainly wouldn't walk/take the bus lugging a 27" iMac behind me. However, after looking at the results thus far, I think I'm going to take the chance. Looks like somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 of the products are affected. That seems like a large number, although not many have reported yet. I expect that number to continually shrink.

ok ill try that site that you gave me later tonight coz its hard to tell when i take a picture while the sun is up.

Also don't test it with high brightness. Try a brightness around 50%. I hope it passes!

At least the number of good displays are out numbering the bad displays!

Unfortunately just because the screens look great now doesn't mean they will further on down the line.

I haven't seen any data or posts that mention the yellow tinge issue will develop over time. If you have, please share link. Thanks!

note:

first 2 pics was taken using my digicam
last 2 pics was taken using my iphone

you're the one that post an image with 2 imac side by side right? i have a couple of question for you, was one of the imac is replacement for the other one? if that was a replacement, dont you need to return the defective ones first b4 they send you a replacement? let me know coz i already ordered my replacement but the guy told me that i have to ship out the one that i have right now b4 they replace my imac. thanks

yep, you're right, they wont send you a new one till you send the other one back first. I opted to pay for a new one and have them ship one out before I sent the other one back hence I had the 2 here side by side. I will be shipping the 'yellow' one out shortly and they will give me a refund on that one.

Yours doesn't seem too bad though. While reading these forums and as your eyes move down the screen while reading, do you notice yellowing or your screen looking 'warmer' ? If so, I would exchange it. If you don't notice it then keep it.

this is the reason why i hold off for the 6 months, i tought they would've fix this issue by now. since they place my order already, ill try it one more time and if i get another defective screen i guess thats it for me buying apple computer. this is my first mac and its too much hassle..

i know what you mean, too bad because it's an awesome machine if you can get a perfect one.

I agree, looks like some yellowing. There appears to be a decent percentage of good screens based on the small sample size...hope your next one is a keeper!!
