No, got it today, my first ever mac... just a bit shocked that i got one with this and shadows in the center. looks terrible..
Get it replace. Like I said, if you wait more than 14 days they'll just fix the screen.

Here is my 2011 27" iMac. My brightness is at 50%.
I'm on the fence with this. I will be doing a bunch of Photoshop and 3D work on this machine, so I'd like the display to be as accurate as possible.
I'd like to know if people getting replacement screens or iMacs are eventually getting the problem resolved.
your bottom half more to the right looks like it has the yellow tint issue. It really is a lottery game to get a good one. Some people are lucky with their second replacement while others may get something worse.
ok, got my replacement.
1st thing is: it's not perfect! there is a slight bit of redness in the middle/top left side but not bad.
But!
I don't have any yellow tinting.
So , my conclusion is that a 'perfect' screen is extremely rare while a less than perfect screen is the norm. Get it replaced until you find one 'acceptable' maybe not 'perfect' and be happy with it. Looks like a keeper so far. Not going through the hassle of another exchange. no pixel issues or anything so far. just need to test everything else and verify all is ok.
Update: harddrive seems certainly louder as the other one had no noise (seagate).
noisy hd = wd1001fals-403aa0 (western digital, big difference in noise)
quiet hd = ST31000528AS (seagate) (can't hear it at all actually)
"I contacted the Apple supervisor I talked to before about what to do. I may decide to go the route of having the display replaced at the local Apple store, but would just make sure that I expect no debris or finger prints when I get it back and that it needs to be tested with me there before it leaves the store."
Why are people agreeing to repairs on brand new items? If you have had it less than 14 days, send it back and ask for a new one! You really want someone to open it up and mess about with it. Apple has failed to deliver you a working product free from defects. You are doing their Q/C job for them accepting a repair. Reject it and send it back! no way am i agreeing to a repair on a brand new product. You should just buy a refurb if you want something that has been messed around with by technicians and saved some money. Why do people just bend over and take this cr*p?
Hey - I got my replacement 27" custom iMac and the yellowing is worse on this one that the original! SOB!
Not sure - I contacted the Apple supervisor I talked to before about what to do. Man such problems with these!
I also got the Western Digital HD on my new one. It seems perhaps a tiny bit louder than the Seagate I had on the first machine. Have you noticed any performance issues/differences?
Thanks
Mark

I wonder how many people would withhold returning thir iMacs if Apple had a similar policy in place?
If you can't tell with a test screen up then why does it matter to you. Obviously, that means that if this thread didn't exist you would be happy with the product and wouldn't even think twice about it.
hi,
feeling sort of confused/colour blind.
don't think i have an issue, but am not really sure.
what do you think?
thanks
hey guys I just got my 27 inch 3.4 i7 iMac. I was very nervous about this issue. The screen looks fine so far. But I still wanted to run this test to make sure I didnt get a faulty product because well, I spent good money on it.
So can someone take a look at my picture that I took with my iphone 4 and tell me if I have this yellow tint issue? I cant seem to tell. if so I might replace it for a macbook pro instead.

So is it allowable to open up your iMac in store to check the screen? Im planning on doing this tomorrow and I was wondering if I'd get weird looks lol.
Hi all,
Picked up a used iMac i5 27in 3.1Ghz purchased on 9/5/11 yesterday - having done total reinstall and then Time Machine mirroring of original iMac undertook yellow screen test as a precaution - guess what, lower third of LCD monitor has yellow tint - quite noticeable to my eyes as machine for DTP in CS5 utilising inDesign and Photoshop extensively.
The guy who purchased this machine did not have a clue and put it up for sale before actually demanding a new machine or refund within 14 day buyback period.
I've communicated with the Mac Reseller shop, they are most unhelpful and aware that up to 1-in-10 machines may be effected by this issue again in 2011 model.
To make matters worse, my current iMac needs its LCD monitor replaced due to heat damage - its a late 2009 model and covered by 12 month warranty - the 27in was to fill in this given I need Macs for my work.
Machine is now registered in my name, have original receipt for both iMac and additional RAM - any one know what the chances are that Apple will replace this without a fuss given one machine is already booked in for repair and this was to be its working replacement.
Now I have two iMacs both with LCD issues - this machine has been like it from purchase - Apple Support closed in Hong Kong on Saturday evening and Sunday, hence cannot do anything about it until Monday morning.
I don't particularly wish this iMac to be in for repair two or three times before I get a good LCD screen, particularly given its for work and not for play.
