My Latest iMac 27" i7

Here's my latest iMac. I'll probably keep it, as everything looks yellow after I stare at it for a while.

To Me seems ok?! (anyway Lion has a different color calibration than SL, with Lion I see a warmer color, in all the screen, but the bars top/bottom imo looks the same…)

Looks pretty good. There's slight yellow tinting on the edges but I think that was the camera because it seems to be all the way around.

You're kidding right ? That screen looks great.

Agreed, it's great. Here's another image. Icons in the center are to help camera focus. Kinda warm in the center/bottom, no? Grey band along the bottom.

I know, I'm splitting hairs with this. I will be using it for mostly Photoshop and Zbrush.

Yes is not bad and Yes the iMac is not straight in front of me, is skew, because i've got the old and the new replacmente on the same desk and the new on is skew. Now i'm transfering files. I've asked for a "new/replace" mac because the old makes pop/tick when is in stop or sometimes random... i don't know what is/are... (not the hard disk because the it has only the SSD)

The old one (1 month old) has a blueish screen with SL, but the profiles color are different between Lion and SL... anyway I'm listening if the new one makes the same random "click/pop" :) I hope not :D

Hi gents,

Here is my story. I received my BTO iMac (i7, 8GB, 2TB HDD) from a premium reseller a few days ago, and immidiately noticed a slightly warmer yellowish tone in the middle bottom of the screen. I think it's pretty bad, however, I would like to hear your opinions; given your experience with different degrees of severity of the problem.

Bought a new 21.5" from Regent St on Wednesday. From first use of Safari/Chrome I picked up on noticeable yellowing of the bottom 1/3 of the screen where the white browser background turns to off white. I had never heard of this issue before and Googling "Yellow iMac" brought me to this thread. I don't even need to perform the grey bar as I can see it as clear as day in the browser.

I'm so disappointed as I bought this to replace a 20" Core2Duo with the non-IPS screen mainly because of the upgrade in screen quality.

It will drive me mad so it's going back to Regent St at the weekend. Which will cost me half a day and £20 in taxis from the station as I live in Kent :(.

Looks like I have some yellow tint going on :( Hopefully I'm just seeing things though. All I know is the nearest apple store is over 9 hours away so there's not much I can do. I only notice it in that test though, I don't see it normally, so I'm not too worried.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I don't know what % of screens are actually perfect, but (having inspected a dozen or so screens in stores etc.) I'd say you should definitely be able to get a better one than that.

That's one of the worst i have seen yet. Definetly return that one!

Hey Guys,

got my 27 inch 2011 yesterday. I do notice a yellow tint on the bottom third of the screen, called Apple today and got a replacement coming just to check which one is better.
I took a quick snap shot with my iPod, what do you think chances are, that the replacement got a better screen than this one?

I think this warrants a return. What do you guys thing?
I custom ordered mine from the website with my friends discount. Is it easier to call and get a replacement or go into the apple store?

If it's going to bother you, perhaps. This is why I do not have a current iMac. I tried the 27-inchers when they were first released in late 2009. Then I tried the updated 21.5 inch in summer 2010. All had yellow screens.

They're great machines otherwise, but I'll keep waiting and get a Mac Mini if I feel I need to get a new computer before the iMac displays change.

You can use this: http://imac.squeaked.com/test.php

But personally I've found a much better test is to get a window with alternating white and grey lines, like a folder window in the finder or a playlist window in itunes, and filling up the screen with it (with the dock hidden).
