Fingerprints are not a feature and fingerprints happen on everything you touch. If you are going to blame Apple for something, at least make it logical and practical.
Disgusting levels of fingerprints go all the way back to iPods. So, yes they are a feature from Apples perspective. I have plenty of devices that show no fingerprints. Apple is capable of creating devices that dont show them.

Do fingerprint marks spread it now?! Maybe Apple should require gloves, like little masks, for their stores to address this problem.
I am doubtful but I was just pointing out that everyone is much more focussed on not passing around germs during Covid. Yet, Apple releases one of their worst examples of disgusting fingerprints in its history.

Showing or not showing fingerprints has nothing to do with how many people touch a device…

OK - this is more about first impressions, and less about Midnight Blue (I picked Silver).

So far, it's mostly what I've been expecting (and expectations were high). The one surprise - how thin it is. Immediately was struck by this once it was in my hands.
Pix?

isn't there a midnight color on the cheaper watches? are mid night and starlight colors for the cheap consumer centric products?
I don't know where you're getting your information. A cursory look at the Apple Store shows that only the more expensive Apple watches are available in Midnight and Starlight. The less expensive models (Series 3 and SE) are not. Also watches that start at $199 and go to $329 are not what I would consider being marketed at the "cheap consumer centric" market but that's just me.

The only watch to buy is stainless steel and those colors aren’t offered.

What are you talking about, the SS and titanium watches are the expensive ones, midnight/ starlight are the cheaper watches lol. No one buys a series 3 you can’t even update them.

Not quite. The entry level (aka "cheaper") ones are the soon-to-be-discontinued series 3 and of course SE. In the upper range we have SS/Titanium and even higher, Hermès. So that puts the Alu Midnight/Starlight in the midrange category, price wise.

In other words, Midnight and Starlight are neither entry-level nor upper range watches. They are right in the middle.

Not true. The cheaper watches are SE and Series 3. Starlight and Midnight colors are available on the Series 7. Just because you don't like the watches doesn't mean they don't exist. And if no one is buying the Series 3, why is Apple still selling them? 🤔

Starlight geek: Did you happen to notice that Apple removed the "silent clicking" option from the trackpad?
Not really - but I understand it's been removed for a while, no? I tend to prefer "tap to click" which works pretty well in my opinion. And it's a bit softer on my fingers, as I find trackpads in general to be a pain to "click".

I was unaware it was removed a while ago. lol I should know better being here for so long. How are the fingerprints with your new toy?

I just had to see myself both midnight and starlight to have my final decision about if it bothers me. I found the fingerprints to be disgusting and excessive in the midnight! 🤢 but in starlight they are barely noticeable! I'm glad about it and I hope this video helps someone to decide!

Fingerprints do come off with a microfiber cloth, microfiber with a little water, or a small squirt of eyeglass cleaner. I use these for cleaning off non-midnight color Apple laptops also. I know the ones in the stores look terrible but what do you expect when someone comes in after just eating a burger to play with the new laptop?

Having owned a few ThinkPads in my day, I know how annoying fingerprints can be - but on those machines, they don't wipe off as easily due to the soft-touch materials used. At least with the M2 Air, the aluminum finish should be much easier to clean.

One thing I did notice on the M2 Air was that the seams on the bottom (where the bottom plate meets the bottom-sides of the MacBook) are a bit more prominent than they are on the MacBook Pro's, which share the same design. Not a big deal, but definitely something the fingers can feel while handling it. These seems are much more smooth on the new MacBook Pros whereas on the M2 Airs, it's as if the bottom cover is recessed a tiny bit - not even by a hair.

Ok, I’ve read the whole thread and my order is in for….Midnight Blue! 😵‍💫

Bring it on Apple (in about 2 weeks apparently) 😍

Holy u-turn Batman….. so, after (further) careful consideration I’ve cancelled my M2 Air order and bought a 14” MacBook Pro instead o_O

The superior screen sealed the deal for me…along with a nice discount of £250 off the Pro’s price thanks to a discount scheme run by my employer (I couldn’t get a penny off the M2 Air :().

It means Space Grey instead of Midnight but I’m sure I’ll cope! 😜
