So, my first impressions with midnight 8/10, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD compared to a MacBook Pro 14".....

What I like:

First and foremost the general "handability" of the device and weight
Battery life seems much better so far
In full screen mode you can't see the notch (although MBP 14" does this much better)

What I dislike:

These are all pretty predictable given the different specs but hey:

Speakers: much, much better on the 14"
Processing: again, MBP easily wins out on converting a film in handbrake significantly. The fans kicked in on the MBP and the air got uncomfortably hot

With all things considered for my use the Air works best for me. If you don't care about weight and battery life the MBP Pro is objectively the better choice. However, its not such a massive next level upgrade over the Air imo

What color MacBook Pro did you have and how do you think the midnight compares? Do you like the midnight?

How did you get a custom config so fast...

My first impressions: Moving data from 2017 Air to M2 went smoothly and relatively quickly. Had to enter passwords for a bunch of things but that is OK. Will take a while to get used to new screen and may have to adjust contrast etc. Had to add permissions for some stuff since I get special permissions not carried over.
I use FireFox as default browser and stuff doesn't go completely from side to side. Changing zoom doesn't stay over restart of browser. Will work on it.
So far this is working great. Will get used to it I"m sure but so far a big smile

I must be the only one with space gray... wanted to be conservative and was afraid of prints.. looks amazing in SG.. super thin!!!!!

I'm looking forward to picking up my SG this evening from the Apple store. I originally had a midnight on order from Best Buy, but the order was delayed indefinitely as of this morning. So I cancelled & grabbed the same configuration in SG to avoid waiting until the second week of August for Midnight to be back in stock.

Just opened mine. The entire lap is midnight, expect at one of the USB-C ports where there's a nice paint chip.

That's the one thing that would put me off the Midnight color ... it's going to show a lot of chipping/nicks over time I think, especially around ports and edges

If that's a primary concern, silver is really the only color that avoids that issue

My migration took about 25 minutes (give or take).
