I don't find it annoying...it took a few minutes to get used to, i don't even think about it anymore

well, i just tried to lift my left finger on my normal mouse a few times and it actually is annoying for me. maybe too much tendon damage from sports already. lifting one finger or my mand from a surface while leaving the wrist down in general a movement that i don't like to do.
thats one of the reasons why i prefer the bulky ms mouse or very small mice. in the first case the mouse supports my fingers or hand and i don't have to lift them. in the latter case my fingers are almost 90 degree bent down so stretching the finger is a more natural movement.

just orderd one.... lets see if i get it before my BTO iBook that i orderd on last tuesday :D

I just observed how I right-click, and I guess I already lift my index before clicking. I never noticed that before! So this shouldn't be a problem for me.

But I love my simple Logitech mouse, but I love Might Mouse, but but .... decisions decisions! :p

Any ideas how long the cable is on the Mighty Mouse? I could find any information on cable length on Apple's website.

I want to use it on my iBook but am a bit concerned it won't stretch all the way around to comfortably use it.

Ditto for me. I already lift my index finger when I right click. Not much, but I think it is enough for the Might Mouse.

Heh, you wimpy "I can't lift my left finger!" people are funny.

I find I have absolutely no problems making a right click. In fact in first I can't figure out HOW it knew I was right-clicking. I just thought, and did it instinctively, and it registered on the screen. That's it. After I did some experimentation, I did figure it out. It just works, trust me guys.

And what's this about finger lifting? It's not like you lift it and point it all the way up, then click. You just shift the weight to the right finger, and that makes your left finger lift a bit and I mean a BIT, you just have to lift enough to not TOUCH the mouse with your right finger, that's all. As for me it's no problem because I tend to rest my right finger on the wheel anyway, so I didn't even realize how it works at first.

The wheel, too small? Maybe, if you're trying to scroll the "normal" way. What I do, I just sort of "stroked" it. Like I'm stroking the mouse, but with the ball in the way. It's no problem once you get used to it. It's sweet, the ability to scroll anywhere - horizonal, vertical even diagonal. It's sweet.

As for gaming, I've not tried yet, but I'd imagine it would work just fine. No you can't click two buttons at the same time (since it's only one button), you can click right, center and left very quickly with no problem. It's not like you have to consciously lift your finger and act all dramatic "oohhh my finger hurts so much I can't stand the exercise! *grunt* *grunt*" and THEN click the right button...

My only complaint? The squeeze thing. It's... odd. It works much better than I thought, but it's still odd :) I can get used to it fast, since it takes in the action of dragging a item, then exposeing to a window, then releasing and makes it very intuitive and nice. But for general purpose expose, it's odd. :)

And I'm just a little nitpicker, because I'm wondering... anyone who have the mouse notice the thingies on the sides are a bit off-center (not exactly flush with the rest of the body)? It's very slight, but I'm just a nitpicker like that.

Overall rating: "I'm selling my MX1000!" stars.

I am so down with the Mighty Mouse. Serious gamers will have a gaming mouse with like 800 buttons anyways, so why not have a good, pretty, second mouse for everyday computing?

This mouse sounds PERFECT for me, as I found out that I lift my left-click finger when I right click as well. (how funny!) I think I'll have to go to the Apple Store tomorrow.

I have a questions for the people who have the Mouse now, if you turn it over, do you have a different EMC number? mine is 2059

Wow, I'm glad we got some user impression up so quickly. I'll have to see in person what it's like. Lifting your opposite finger to click a certain way isn't all that annoying at all. I'll just have to learn it and see if it's worth the nice mouse.

haha, i found it funny how he talks about having nice looking Apple gear to go along with each other and isnt afraid to pay a premium for it, but he shows a picture of his setup before hand and the mac mini is the only Apple product on the table.

Apple gear doesn't mean it has to be made by Apple. He does have an iSight on there.

Wow, this has to be one of the few times in history that reviews have started happening on an Apple product the same day it was released!

Well, it IS one of the first times in recent memory that Apple actually had a Mac-related hardware product available on the day it was announced. ;)

I think if someone would have started the thread and said this is the best mouse ever go buy one cuase I did, that everyone would have. But becuase the thread starter was against the mouse, now, so is everyone else.

My advice, go try it out first... And people should try to be less sheep like.

But in the end lets remember its just a mouse..... so its really not a big deal at all................

Yes, try before you judge--but being able to use both buttons at once WAS one of my important questions, and I was disappointed in the answer.

I like other things about it, and will try one in person sometime. It may not be suitable for two-buttons-at-once gaming (like some situations in UT 2004), but then again some people say Bluetooth isn't suitable for gaming, and I want a BT mouse for sure.

So maybe I'll end up with a BT Mighty Mouse (I'm sure one will come someday, even if there are power challenges to solve first)--PLUS a corded gaming mouse that I use when I'm gaming but not on the road.

It's interesting that most people seem to say they do lift their finger, which explains why most owners are giving positive reviews :) I'd like to know what I do when I'm NOT thinking about it (and not gaming)... but I'd need a camcorder for that!

yeah exactly...i don't play games either so i don't know if it's good or bad for games.

for most first person shooters your right click is your secondary fire. usually you use both buttons a lot. i.e. firing a machine gun with your left click and rockets with your right click. usually, secondary takes a minute for your character to reset and by that time i have left button down waiting to start firing again. so it might be faster, but i think it will be confusing at times. although you could make an argument that it would be slower because switching which finger is pressed down could be quicker with two buttons. it hard to say until i try it.

I haven't been able to use the mouse yet as there are no Apple Stores near me, but I am excited about the mouse. I've been craving an Apple two-button mouse for some time now, discussing it with a friend even yesterday!

I lift my fingers up all the time to click, so I don't think I'll have any problems with the right-click. The scroll ball sounds great and so does the squeeze buttons.

Once we get a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse I will be all over it. Hopefully it's soon because I really want a multi-button bluetooth mouse that doesn't look like crap.

This is more of an ergonomic comment:

I was noting that, providing you left-click many, many times more than you right click, the sensor behavior described here sort of makes sense; I've always thought that just pushing the whole top of the mouse down has got to be better for your wrist than just your index finger, so this design lets you do that while still giving access to a right click when necessary.

I use an MX500 that I'm quite happy with, but interestingly, I've noticed that with the 4-button IBM mouse I have at work I tend to hold my hand with my index finger on the scrollwheel, both to ease scrolling and to keep my wrist at a better angle, so I'd already be halfway to a Mighty right-click, so to speak.

I don't want a Mighty Mouse for myself, but my wife is another story--having small hands, she much prefers the standard Apple mouse to the MX500, but she likes the scroll wheel. Best of both worlds, baby!

apple will wait until at least the first rush is over, so they can resell the BT to everyone.
