mac mouse scrolling problem completely solved

I have a mighty mouse 3 years now. Every now and then scrolling becomes an issue. I started solving it by just pressing down real hard to get the dirt out and it worked a couple times.

However, I found a better solution. Using a q-tip dipped in a first aid antiseptic (alcohol) I scrolled up and down and right and left until the problem was completely solved.

None of the above worked for me

I tried all the suggestions above, but mine's just dead. When I run the paper over the ball it jiggles the cursor, but that's about it. Guess I'd better go out and buy a real mouse!

Mucky Mighty Mouse: cleaning tips

Quick fix: Nail polish/varnish remover and a piece of kitchen towel. Apply remover to towel, spread it on a desk and rub the upturned mouse like you're trying to sand a piece of titanium - ie Press really hard.

Repeat a few times.

Don't make the towel into a pad, keep it thin so that you can get maximum pressure.

The Remover also cleans the mouse shell nicely.

NB Someone will probably now tell me that the nail polish remover will cause the plastic to turn yellow and disintegrate within 24 hours, leaving nothing but a windows logo made of ash… I don't know :)

Mighty Mouse - Scrolling Problem

Many thanks for your tip!!! I pressed on the ball and a black circle of dirt came popped out the gap:D

Guess I'll stop eating & mousing simultaneously

My wired mouse with the roller ball would only scroll down, not UP.
I turned it upside down & rolled it around on paper for a few minutes. That fixed the problem.

I've made a mental note to refrain from eating & mousing simultaneously

Tried all of the previous solutions, none worked. Used WD40 on a paper towel and rubbed it on the wheel, worked immediately.

it fixed it !!!

my mouse would not scroll down for a long time ,, i tried several ideas but this time i was sucessfull ..I guess i was not rough enough the first time around ,, i just used the cloth to clean screens and turned the mouse upside down and rolled the Pi$$ out of it ,, and guess what it worked this time ,, the first few times i was sort of gentle but this time i was actually a bit rough but it worked
i hope you have the same results
