False. If he was “the best,” then he’ll be replaced by “not the best.” However, I’d he was “one of the best,” he may be replaced by “another one of the best.”

If I'm the best at doing something, then stop doing it, doesn't the next best dude still doing it become the new best dude at doing said thing?

Anyway, while I realize it has been my choice to read rumors and such, it may be nice to be surprised once in a while again. Unless the next best dude blabbers on everything in advance, again.

That’s not hard to do when he’s got contacts at various factories making the product. There are many people like this who don’t have an outlet to share the info and don’t feel it’s important enough to sell.

You miss the point here slightly, it‘s not about using the contacts or not. It was about establishing those contacts in the first place. That was his prior investment.

Not really. If the only two musicians in human history were Mozart and Miley Cyrus, Mozart would still be the best musician, and he has been dead for quite some time. Being active has nothing to do with the best, unless we’re specifically talking about the “active” subset.

So maybe this will cut down in the nonsense rumors? I get that this is one of the few names out there for Apple analysts, but the guy is right 50% of the time at best, the tech media just gloms on to the times he’s right after the fact.

Tim Cook paid him off to leave (doubling down).

Sweet. I’ll get to be surprised by products announcement events again!
Why? its not like they hit it on target with their predictions before... He was just as accurate as random member xyz on macrumors.com

Agreed. A frightening scenario that one.

This was more like what I was thinking about, but perhaps didn't convey clearly.

I've always wondered why Apple never just paid him off to keep quiet. I'd take the money. There's nothing morally superior about him leaking information, so no reason to stick to that profession if a huge payday comes along.

At least the keynotes will be more interesting now. And yes I can't help myself reading MacRumors, lol.

If you want to be surprised. Why are you going to macRUMORS?
Because I’m conflicted and complicated. Surely a Malfoy—if anyone—can understand that.

No. The ratio of accurate to inaccurate betweeen him and the average Joe was VASTLY different. Timeline as well.

Given how frequently he was wrong, and how severely it affected Apple's stock when his wrong predictions didn't actually happen, this seems like a good thing all around.

I'm sure we are all capable of taking on the mantle of saying something will happen one day, and then doing a u-turn the following day....

His predictions were generally garbage but like Nostradamus, if you make enough guesses, eventually some will come true and idiots will think you have some special ability to make predictions.
