No SmartCover for me.

rooCASE Ultra-Slim (Red) Vegan Leather Folio Case and (Red) Capacitive Stylus for Apple iPad Mini 7.9-Inch Tablet (Built-in sleep / wake feature) Thinest Folio Case - 17mm

I have a similar case for my ipad2, so I ordered this Red Case to totally protect my Mini IPad:

No not this time.

Smart cover did nothing to protect the back and sides on the iPad 2 and 3.

Looking for more of a thin Folio style cover

Ordered one online today, I was hoping it would show up before the 2 so I can bring it with me when I got to the store to line up. But the Apple site says:

Delivers 6 Nov - 8 Nov via Standard Shipping

Do they hold accessory shipping too? I though they would be shipped out immediately, just with the actual products held until the 2.

I couldn't decide so I just bought one of each I wish they had leather ones... I don't know why not ImageUploadedByTapatalk1351315892.469484.jpg

I ordered the pink one for my white iPad Mini. I will be traveling quite a bit right after I receive it and won't really have time to shop for another cover right now. Just thought it was the best route to go at this time.

No, Can't imagine the metal clasps on them especially after the iPhone 5 fiasco aka scuffgate.

Love the Smart Cover on my iPad 3! In fact, I have 4 of them. :) It doesn't add bulk and is very useful. I have tried other cases, but I always go back to the Smart Cover.

I ordered a pink one for my mom's iPad mini.

Yes. My product RED has shipped. Debated on light blue, but the red will look equally as awesome on the black or white Mini.

I'm exactly the same! Can't decide between those two for my black 32gb.

I ended up going with red this time since I have the dark grey for my iPad 3rd gen. I'm also getting a black Mini, but I haven't decided on size yet.

I ordered this one yesterday. $11 with shipping with a gizmodo coupon. Looks real sleek. I love when it's closed looks real slim.

I'm debating about whether to get the Smart Cover with my new mini. Right now, I'm leaning towards holding off because I'm thinking that I might would rather just have a slip case of some type. In fact, I already have an old one that might work fine with it. With my original iPad 1, I have the case that was being sold with Apple at the time and it has served fine. But one of the advantages of the mini is it's light weight and size for reading, which will be my primary use. Any opinions?

Good question. I've given this a bunch of thought - I had an iPad gen 1 and got a nice form fitting sleeve (faux leather) that was really nice, and kept it slim and lightweight and protected. What I also bought was the Compass iPad Stand, and even though it was compact, it was another item to carry.

This time I've decided to get the smart cover not because it's so beautiful, but because it seems so functional (and not ugly), the way it acts as a stand for the iPad mini. The one thing that won't protect, however, is the back, so I also have bought a fabric based, soft, cushioned "sack" that the iPad mini plus smart cover will fit in nicely. There's enough room in there that the stylus I've ordered will also fit nicely.

That's the way I'm going, at least for now.
