Meh, I've been toying with the idea of getting a Mini for it's smaller form factor. Full size is really nice but I'd like something more portable at times.

And, the only way I'd even consider a mini is if I had major portability needs. As it is, the Air isn't exactly like carrying around a patio stone or something. It's pretty portable itself.

I understand the mini being right for some but there isn't a single app or task where a smaller screen is better than a larger one. None. Zero. Like those verizon coverage adds where the guy asks the kids if bigger is better or smaller is better. Every kid shouts "BIGGER". They are correct.

;)

I am always amused at the mentality exhibited in these type of discussions. Who cares if someone likes the air more then the mini or the other way around? Everyone buys the device that fits their needs. One is not better then the other, just different.

I definitely agree. Different strokes for different folks.

And the rumored upcoming two pound 12" retina Macbook Air may cannibalize some iPad Air sales because it will be vastly more functional without being a great deal larger or heavier.

There is no point to release a 12" MBA while there are 11" and 13" MBAs.

This will not happen.

There are currently no retina MBAs. The smallest and lightest retina laptop Apple currently sells is the relatively heavy 3.5 pound 13" MBP. If Apple were to build the rumored 2.0 pound 12" rMBA it would very likely sell like hotcakes. The future is ultra fine pixel displays and the future has already arrived in the iPad and MBP lines. The MBA line needs to catch up and as soon as it does it will likely cannibalize both some iPad Air and rMBP sales. A 2.0 pound 12" rMBA could potentially be a wildly popular computer.

So is the iPad 4. That's why I kept mine and got a retina mini.

Or, 10 inch form factor is vastly superior to 8 inch. (8 inch has its places, but experience is not the same)

Those who know, know.

Steve Jobs was absolutely correct.

I had the Mini, retina version, and returned it for the Air. I do agree that the Mini is a great little device, however it was ultimately too small for my uses. I loved its portability, even though the Air is still pretty light.

You are saying that objectively when it's subjective. That's a really bad analogy btw. :)

A 25" iPad would be even better according to your logic. You may say "well that's too big and unwieldy". That's true FOR YOU. Someone else might not think so. Would that make you wrong? Same applies to the Mini.

I have an iPad 3 and returned my Air after getting fed up with Safari crashing. Taking the train a few times a week a lot of time standing room only even the Air was just slightly too big for me. But I enjoy its size at home.

Once 7.1 comes out and I read reviews I might pick up a rMini. I'll probably wait until the next full size iPad since I have a 3 now.

And all this time I was stupidly happy with my rMini. Silly me, now I will have to sell it and go get an Air. Glad you told me.

I like how you axed the part of my very short quote that said,"The Mini is great..."

Again, I have both, I like both for different reasons and I use the Mini almost as much as I use the Air. Hell, I use the Mini as my phone.

But, in the spirit of this thread, I will again state: the Air is better than the Mini.

I'd say the air is better for you As others stated just because its better for you doesn't mean its better for everyone.

One size doesn't fit all, and for my needs, perspective the mini is a better device.

I have a problem so I'll likely end up buying an Air to go with my Macbook Air and retina mini.....

I love the mini form factor. But there are times I wish I had the Air - especially in its new shell.

I'll wait for the next gens to come out. Need to rework my setup anyhow.....really coveting a 13" rMBP and I need more than 32 GB storage on my rMini. Went to the wifi-only model with tethering on my iPhone this time around and miss having the instant connectivity of the LTE models.

I'll likely switch to an LTE rMini (when they come out with the Touch ID ones), a Touch ID enabled Wifi-only Air and a 13" rMBP.....

When is the question.....lol.
