Credit goes to SheepNutz in this thread for linking me to this so I changed the thread title to reflect this discovery.

So far, its working quite well for me. It has 2 features that need to be added as well as some work on the Youtube APIs that some people are complaining about but the dev has acknowledged the issues and is working on them according to his twitter. He seems to be addicted to his twitter so check it out for updates.

But yes, this is the best app for Youtube at the moment and its actually a really, really great app. Supports the iOS6 update and has iPhone 5 support. Hope this helps people like me who want Youtube on their iPad without using a crappy mobile page.

Wow, so all the people with an iPad will be without Youtube if they dare upgrade to iOS6 unless Google finishes the iPad app?

I would have to try to use the iPhone app on my iPad.

The iPhone app looks pretty good on the Retina iPad. I dunno how it might look on the older iPads.

I thought the iPhone version looked like garbage on the iPad.

I'm sure Google will release an iPad version in the next week.

I mean, who cares, just create a link to m.youtube.com to your home screen.

In that case I can wait a week. Screw using a browser for video on a tablet.

No Youtube app for iPad so far. Could it be that Apple is going to let all those iOS6 upgraders on iPad down by not having any Youtube app for iPad?

Not Apple. Google make the YouTube app.

The license for the built-in YouTube app expired with beta 4. Google has committed to providing a YouTube app for the iPad.

Nothing stopping you using the iPhone app on the iPad, it's all blown up and funny looking like any other iPhone app but the actual video looks great.

Or, you can just go to the YouTube website. It works well.

Google released the Youtube app for iPhone last week because Apple's license expired. IOS 6 launches today and iPhone 5 launches friday. Once IOS 6 has been made public, Google will supply an update to all of the bugs, iPad support and iPhone 5/iPod Touch with 4" screen support. Please be patient.

I hope you are right. But we'll just have to use Safari in the meantime. At least the app is coming!

The same could be said about the Google maps app.

I am 70/20 right. Google is waiting for either today or friday/saturday to update its app.

why do people encourage redundancy? I see this all the time with multiple apps.

why use a YouTube app when you can do the same thing from safari?

I would prefer a native app myself, because the new YouTube coding for iPad doesn't use the regular iOS handling of videos and the "fullscreen" is no longer fullscreen...

The YouTube app stays signed into my account, when Safari logs out every time I clear cookies.

Web interfaces are slower than apps, and Google broke fullscreen in Safari weeks ago.

There are plenty of reasons why the new YouTube app is much worse than the old app. I don’t understand why it was so hated.
