The YouTube app stays signed into my account, when Safari logs out every time I clear cookies.

Web interfaces are slower than apps, and Google broke fullscreen in Safari weeks ago.

There are plenty of reasons why the new YouTube app is much worse than the old app. I don’t understand why it was so hated.
You have it completely right.

Bad news for all iPad users.

iOS6 is one more step closer to lock us all into using iTunes and iCloud.

----------

I have iOS6 on my phone here and have the google youtube app installed. Its in the app store.

The question is; does the Google YouTube app support AirPlay streaming?

Yeah? I can AirPlay YouTube videos from Safari?

That makes me feel MUCH better about upgrading my iPad to iOS 6. I really enjoy being able to pick videos from my iPhone or iPad and beam it to my Apple TV.

I will, however, hold off on upgrading my iPhone until they come out with a replacement Google Maps app.

why do people encourage redundancy? I see this all the time with multiple apps.

why use a YouTube app when you can do the same thing from safari?
Native apps perform faster. That's why Facebook scrapped their HTML5 iOS app and replaced it with a native CocoaTouch app which is allegedly much faster.

(Disclaimer: I don't use Facebook.)

I can't believe anybody would be ok with using a web page after the so called "app revolution".

I'd go with "somewhat less buggy" over "much faster" but yes, it's definitely an improvement.

If I have a choice, I avoid websites and stick to apps.
Pretty much. I guess iPad is miniscule compared to the iPhone market so both Apple and Google aren't really worried about iOS6 iPad users not having an app.

lol it's nowhere NEAR miniscule considering that the iPad is now one of Apple's flagship products and watching YouTube on it is a major part for most iPad users, so there's definitely some pressure for Google to make things right after they screwed up with the html5 switch.
This is one of the reasons why I'm holding off from iOS6.

Problem I see with using Safari instead of a dedicated app is something I just ran into while trying to watch a video which was an error message that said:

"The content owner had not made this video available on mobile".

So, how do I watch it on my iPad? :(

Link to video?

Does the iOS 6 full screen mode in Safari help with getting m.youtube.com to play full screen on the new iPad?

Does full screen mode even work on the ipad for browsing in Safari?

There is no full screen mode for Safari on the iPad, only for the iPhone, which sucks. I thought it was going to be an iOS 6 features, not an iPhone iOS 6 feature.

how did you create that gap in between the apps? it seems whenever i move them around they snap back so they are all aligned

This is also one of the things I don't like about using the browser...videos come back in my searches that I can't watch on my device.

If you were using the youtube app, that video wouldn't even show up in your search results.

I use the Youtube app for the iphone then use X2. Its not bad especially when preview fullscreen.

m.youtube.com

You're welcome, it's far superior to the YouTube app anyways.

Everyone keeps saying this. I don't know if it's blind fanboying or I'm in some kind of minority which simply cannot get videos to play full screen using the web on an iPad.
