Dodgers choking too. It just goes to show, the regular season is meaningless. Also, all playoffs should be 7 games. 5 games is too easy for a worse team to upset a better one. They used to be 9 game series long ago.
Imagine if the NFL had it so you could only play your best QB every 4 or 5 games. That's sort of like what baseballl is. Pitching is everything.
Yes, but the regular season is played with 5-man rotations, and your position at the end of the season, based on which you got into the post season, is because of that rotation. So a 5 game series seems pretty representative to me. As it is, with travel days and short rest a team may play its best pitcher more than once.
Usually teams grow through the postseason, and I think if they got to the WS, a Cleveland/San Diego matchup might turn out to be pretty good. Bring on the new talent. The size of the market doesn’t necessarily dictate the quality of the baseball, if the team makes deals which don’t leverage the money properly.
