Well, for years I said I just wanted the Cubs to win one World Series in my lifetime. That wish has been fulfilled. I'm not sure if I could be done with baseball, but there's a chance. Soccer will pass the time just the same.

I used to think soccer was boring (coming from a baseball fan, LOL). But since my kids have gotten into soccer and I watch them play and also, we all watch soccer games on TV, I'm much more of a fan today. I have no teams or leagues that I root for, but if its on tv, I'll watch it

I try to watch, it's just so hard to follow and so long.

they're typically shorter then a baseball game. As for hard to follow, yes the rules are a bit different.

I will say this, woman's soccer is light years better then watching men's - for one reason and one reason only. The amount of flopping and histrionics in men's soccer is unbelievable. One player just has to look sideways at another and he needs to be carted off in a stretcher.

Looks like progress is being made
MLB, MLBPA agree to negotiate on international amateur draft amid lockout talks
NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball and its locked-out players agreed Thursday to negotiate on an international amateur draft, paving the way for renewed economic talks.

Under an agreement reached on the 99th day of a lockout that has delayed the season, the sides agreed to a July 25 deadline to establish an international draft that would start in 2024.

Truth be told, I really don't understand why an international draft is a sticking point for the players, but I'm not close to the situation so its really more ignorance on my part.

I did the opposite. Grew up watching soccer. Never understood baseball and found it boring until I was 23 or so lol

if you like fits of rage, complete and utter disappointment, over 150 years of tradition, underperforming teams, and horrible out of touch ownership SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY FC just might be the team for you!

Is it possible they don't want foreigners taking their jobs?
I don't think that's it at all, there's a healthy compliment of foreign players already in MLB, just look at Big Papi, one of the most famous players here in Boston. MLB has a lot of Latin American players, and the Japanese player population is only growing.

The Players Union didn't want an International Draft because a draft undercuts foreign players' ability to sign the best possible deal. It is actually advantageous for international players to not be subject to a draft with its pre-assigned bonus slots, even though teams do have a limit to how much they can spend on international signing bonuses per year. Abuse of international signing rules is what ended John Coppolella's career as a GM.

Very thoughtful of them!
