And Bob Melvin gets fired.

Honestly this is a move that had to be made. Not that this Giants' team was the most talented, but they were one of the most fundamentally unsound groups of players I've ever seen in the orange and black. At least don't beat yourself. Kudos to Buster Posey for making the change.

[Edit] Bruce Bochy is out of contract in Texas and there are rumors Posey will want to bring him back to SF. I'd rather not.
Matt Williams has been let go as well...

@Silencio - is this you?

From reddit: "My first baseball game with my dad. The Kruk and Kuip jerseys I ordered didn’t come in time before I flew out, so I had to make some the night before my flight. Friday 09/26/2025. I just about cried when I saw the park in person! I grew up going to Dodger Stadium as a Giants fan. What an amazing night and an amazing game!"

I LOVE THESE JERSEYS!

I'd like to think they're both wiser than to believe that a return as manager would be a good idea, for either party.

However, Bochy has an offer to remain with Texas as part of the front office, and I have little doubt that SF would also make the same offer.

Snitker steps down as the Braves manager.

Can't say that I'm surprised, he mishandled a number of issues this season. The latter portion of the season was better they largely dug themselves into a huge hole. I'm sure it was one of those situations where the front office made him an offer he couldn't refuse, i.e., leave gracefully or be fired.

Yup.

Anyone else lovin' daytime post-season baseball!?!?

I'm reading that they are in talks with VOLS manager Tony Vitello...

I'm cool with that.

He would be a daring choice, going against the kind of thinking gets old, experienced baseball hands, like Melvin, hired.

Posey has come out and poured water on the idea of Bochy returning as manager.

It's still early, and my guess is that they'll end up with someone like Kapler, but not as wacky of a person. Former player, younger, but someone with baseball smarts beyond their years.

Want to hear a crazy thought from a Cardinals fan?

Yadier Molina.

He's smart, knows pitchers and is looking for a greater role in an MLB dugout. As former catchers, Posey and Molina respect (as far as I've heard, anyway) and know each other from facing off against one another and would share a similar headspace. It would admittedly be a bold move as Yadi is fairly inexperienced, but it would certainly make a splash!

It's been brought up on the GIANTS reddit board... I wouldn't hate that option.

Vitello is my first choice...

I just realized that the WC round stays in one city for all 3 games!

GO PHILLIES!

It often goes unnoticed, but catchers are the "QBs" of baseball, and must have the smarts to run the team from the field.

Go Cubs! They finished 5 games behind the Brewers, but won the season series between them. I'm not sure why there is such a wide margin in betting on these two. There will be almost as many Cubs fans at the games in Milwaukee as Brewers fans as is always the case. Brewers fans don't travel as well to Chicago.
