Well, @Madonepro, we drubbed your O's last night... they did get their licks in though 15 - 8 ... We're one game below .500

Is this what hope feels like ... for real?

The Orioles looked terrible. So many dumb mistakes and just the Giants were taking advantage all game long. That play where they looked absolutely lazy and Adames came in to score was shocking from an O's team that was in the playoffs last year.

If you could put together a team comprised of only players whose careers have started in your earthly campaign, that is to say, if you were born in 1980, then only players whose rookie year was 1980 and beyond, no player prior to your hatching is eligible, who would you choose?

Players could be on the active roster, or in the permanent dugout.

For me it goes:

1B Don Mattingly
2B Ryne Sandberg
SS Ozzie Smith
3B Wade Boggs
C Gary Carter
OF Tony Gywnn
OF Rickey Henderson
OF Ichiro
DH Ken Griffey Jr

SP Greg Maddux
SP Randy Johnson
SP Roger Clemans
SP Max Scherzer
SP Clayton Kershaw

RP Dan Quisenberry
RP John Smoltz
RP Goose Gossage

CL Mariano Rivera

@Sammael - I'm borrowing from your list rather heavily. I'll use it for now; probably tweak it throughout the day... I may not have followed your rules to a "T" though...

2B Ryne Sandberg
SS Ozzie Smith
3B Wade Boggs
C Gary Carter
OF Tony Gywnn
OF Rickey Henderson
OF Ichiro
DH Ken Griffey Jr

SP Madison Bumgarner
SP Randy Johnson
SP Orel Hershiser
SP Max Scherzer
SP Clayton Kershaw

RP Dan Quisenberry

Embarrassingly, I forgot all about Orel Hershiser.

I would have to name him as an honorable mention. (Triple A, but ready for prime time.)

pachyderm, It appears that you have. As long as the player’s career started the year you were born or after.

No offense, I'm not trying to rile anyone up - I purposely didn't include anyone who I thought might have used PEDs.

Not to be a dead horse, but I have an issue with the absolute moronically stupid, dingleberry, asshat, Doofus McSpatzatron, idiots that vote for the Hall of Fame inductees.

I realize this can be said by a plethora of former players, but what brain dead, foolish, quarter-witted, imbecilic dolt(s), did not vote for Nolan Ryan?

Now sure, he never won a Cy Young, he did not have the impeccable precision of Greg Maddux, he never had a Ron Guidry 25-3 type season, he never had a minuscule 1.12 Bob Gibson ERA, but he was the most dominant, dare I say, “best”, pitcher the game has ever seen.

I am frustratingly surprised when I see “Top 10 Lists”, and he isn’t included.
I’ve heard the argument:
“Blah, Blah, Blah,….. too many walks!”

I say, allow me a counter argument:
SEVEN NO HITTERS!!!! SEVEN”

Do you know how fudgeing insane that is?

OK - Probably the 7th time I've read this post and the first time I noticed you were talking about Nolan Ryan. lol

Yeah. Some pinhead with an axe to grind didn't vote for him.

Or the single voter with Ichiro.

I've said it before, some of the voters let it go to their head and take themselves, and the HoF, much too seriously.

Nolan Ryan is the king of counting stats due to his longevity, along with Pete Rose. He was a good to great pitcher throughout his career, but was never the best pitcher in the league — never won a Cy Young award. That said, Ryan is obviously a Hall of Fame level player. Sportswriters can have unchecked egos as big as the players sometimes, so I try to take what they write with a huge grain of salt.

Tough way for the Giants to end a winning streak. Reds were winning and Padres were winning, so this is a bit of a set back. Hopefully the Giants find a reliable closer next year. I'm not sure Walker if that guy. He's decent, but he **** the bed tonight.

But we're still on a roll.

oh my:

If you've ever been to a pro baseball game it's pretty much understood that the gloves are off when it comes to home run balls and foul balls... survival of the fittest reigns... even if she caught it first, some folks are saying that she did, there is still a window where it ain't over till it's over.

I feel bad for her because no matter who is right she's gonna be vilified for a while...

Yeah, there is something wrong deep inside there.

The Giants org isn't much better I suppose, but I do feel like we are on the upside with Buster Posey in charge.

trade Trout and Ward **** even trade Adell get rid of the pitching staff, something has to give. at least with SF they slowly come out of funks unlike the Angels have i mean look Rendon gets surgery right before the season starts and nothing outta that camp since then, release him pay him the remaining $ or **** take his ass to MLB and see if they can just get a discount on releasing him due to injuries or something
