Does this work in the US on the AT&T network. I had heard it didn't.

Of course it works in the AT&T network. i do it all the time. And if they other user has an iphone just email it to their regular email. Why is this difficult for people?

Have you ever had any problems with it? It only seems to work for me when I use a wireless network. It will send on edge but sometimes the person won't get the pic.

hmm, that's odd. It's worked pretty reliably for me each time. only issue has been that verizon users sometimes don't get it until an hour later or so. but overall, it's been a decent work-around.

my whole thing is i don't even get the text message that says someone has sent a mms to my phone, so people have probably been sending me pics and i haven't gotten them, so a mms app would be amazing, and it wouldnt be that hard, just take photoswap and make it so you can send it to an address/phone number rather than the servers.

plus if there is an mms app, no one is going to be upset about it, but since theres not many people are upset, wouldnt apple rather have people happy rather than unhappy?

I don't get WHY it's so hard for Apple to include MMS? How long would it truly take to program?

I don't see myself or anyone else leaving the iPhone because of the lack of MMS, but it TRULY pisses me off.

A LOT of my friends and myself included are in college, we like to send quick picture messages, and I like to receive them.

It is kinda frustrating and "embarassing" when you have an iPhone and can't receive or send MMS...

Oh well, Installed SwirlyMMS a few days ago and all my problems are gone... best $8 i've ever spent.

I think we should be complaining to ATT. Although it is a problem sending pictures, but there's at least away around it. Receiving pictures is a different story. I know I could have someone just send the picture to my email, which I do, but they just never remember to do it or are just too lazy. I wish ATT could have someway of receiving the pictures to go to our email address we provide to them.

It's easy to send MMS on any iPhone. First gen or 3g, jailbroken or not. No application is needed.

Just send an email to the following address and insert the phone number of the person you want to receive it. They will receive an MMS message from you. And you can receive emails, so I don't think MMS is really a top priority.

Alltel = xxxxxxxxxx@message.alltel.com
Amp'd Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com
AT&T = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net
Boost Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.com
Centennial Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@myblue.com
Einstein PCS = xxxxxxxxxx@einsteinmms.com
Nextel = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com or xxxxxxxxxx@pm.sprint.com
T-Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net
US Cellular = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.uscc.net
Verizon Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com
Virgin Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vmobl.com

so are we supposed to magically know all of our friend's carriers?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

In the UK there's" iPhone MMS" They just changed there name can't remember what it used to be called. It's pretty good. I can recieve mms no bother and to send it's a one off text to the developer that's costs £1.20 I think.
Just google iPhone mms uk!

You're right, we should be complaining to AT&T. I already have a few done this a couple of times. This last time, I asked them if they were going to develop their own or license an MMS app, and they basically ignored the question. I politely told them how user-unfriendly viewmymessage was and they basically apologized (that's all).

But, I think this is a good idea and likely will render more results than the Apple feedback website.

You're given the closest thing we have to a solution to this "problem" and all you can do is complain?

Is this really the state of humanity? For now, this is the solution: Know the carriers or do a straight-up e-mail.

Exactly. I am afraid I am not Steve Jobs so I cannot give you Apple/AT&T MMS. I gave you a way, that I have had great success with. Take it or leave it.

Your solution i not much good to the original poster who is based in the UK

Not aiming this at you in particular, but, its about time people realised the iPhone is available in more countries than the US, if someone from the UK asks a question what has ATT got to do with it ?

its got a very cool icon aswell

Not sure if this now works with other carriers in the UK

I have just sent an MMS from my Virgin Mobile to my email address and it has worked

It gets a very bizare email address, about 40 random characters followed by @mmsreply.virginmobilemessaging.co.uk

I can reply to this and it works but if I use

xxxxxxxxxxx@mmsreply.virginmobilemessaging.co.uk it fails

Because Americans believe that they make up 97% of the entire world and 100% of the world that matters.

Indeed.

I remember in the film Evolution there was a line that went "soon the monsters will cover the while of America, and whe whole world will be destroyed" :rolleyes:
