Not sure if this now works with other carriers in the UK

I have just sent an MMS from my Virgin Mobile to my email address and it has worked

It gets a very bizare email address, about 40 random characters followed by @mmsreply.virginmobilemessaging.co.uk

I can reply to this and it works but if I use

xxxxxxxxxxx@mmsreply.virginmobilemessaging.co.uk it fails

The only two UK carriers it works with in the UK are 3 and Virgin.

It's easy to send MMS on any iPhone. First gen or 3g, jailbroken or not. No application is needed.

Just send an email to the following address and insert the phone number of the person you want to receive it. They will receive an MMS message from you. And you can receive emails, so I don't think MMS is really a top priority.

Alltel = xxxxxxxxxx@message.alltel.com
Amp'd Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com
AT&T = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net
Boost Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.com
Centennial Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@myblue.com
Einstein PCS = xxxxxxxxxx@einsteinmms.com
Nextel = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com or xxxxxxxxxx@pm.sprint.com
T-Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net
US Cellular = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.uscc.net
Verizon Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com
Virgin Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vmobl.com

What about Unicel?

Also, am I supposed to call up all of my friends to ask them what carrier they use, then type it all in my Notes.app so that when I wanna send an MMS to them, I use the correct suffix?

You could add it as a second email address in contacts.

or you can have them send you a picture to your email and then save that address to their contact information.

I wouldn't consider it reliable at all since only 1 of 4 messages I tried this weekend made it to the receiptant.

See, you got 1 in 4! That's fine, you should be happy that you were able to do that. Now, graciously run along now and just play happy that everything else is Snappy and Shiny. :p

In the US on AT&T the email method has been working well for me. Except for a little curious behavior with Ymail. I can receive MMS from a phone on any of my emails, but a MMS sent from Ymail doesn't show up for them, but sent from my Gmail, it works perfectly. :D

It's annoying, but hey, it's a workaround. Not a solution. This is also how I get by without having to pay for SMS either. :D

swirlymms working on the iphone 3g

i have swirlymms on my jailbroken iphone 3g. it is working for me but i had to go through alot of the things other people have described on here like calling with the broken iphone now im using my backup but that is what seems to be the thing that works. You have to have your plan converted back to a media net plan then it should work fine. has for me anyway so far....

I understand we may not be getting MMS for awhile, so why can't AT&T/Apple perfect the viewmymessage site. It hardly ever works for me and I never can bring up the site on my iphone. When I put the code and password into the site from my desktop, it says it's invalid.:confused:

I feel your frustration. You really should send an email to AT&T customer service and complain about that failed abortion of a site. I have already done this. I figure if they get enough people bitching about it, they may actually do something about it. And for good measure, send nasty feedback to Apple as well.

as im reading this, I cant but wonder how you guys send pic/video messages to people who dont use some type of smart phone. Anytime people send me pics from an iphone, i cant open it. even when they send it to my email on my phone. I have to have it sent to my personal email. and if I send them a MMS message, i guess it gives you some password you have to write down, and go to some site to view the picture. Is this correct? If so, that is really retarded. there's seriously no Hack yet for this?
