why does everyone want to uninstall this carrier update after they already installed it? mms comes out on the 25th you'll have the same update then

I think the 25th carrier file might be different... we are supposed to be able to send sound files and I have no option to do this... I can receive them but can't send them... according to the big release from Apple we are supposed to be able to send sound files too.

you can share voice memos with this ipcc... i highly doubt apple will ever allow you to share songs from your library.

Mine does the same thing. How did you download the file with out it being zipped? I can't find any .ipcc files.

i just ended up using firefox and it downloaded fine through there.. its def the ipcc file but for some reason IE is treating it as a ZIP file... jsut use firefox to download it

Just tried this and it worked!!! Thank you so much! :D I'm in the Indianapolis area and have a iPhone 3G with a family plan and Messaging Unlimited for Families. MMS by "late" summer! Yes! lol

Thank you very much! IE was the problem. I used Netscape and it downloaded fine.

Hey Thanks!

It worked for me in the Tampa, FL market but only after doing an additional step. A reset of the network settings.

No dice in the Daytona Beach FL area, downloaded the file in this thread, reset network settings, turned off wifi, still getting the fail. 3.1 with iPhone texting plan.

Another solution which I apparently did. It might be costly for some - but sometimes you just have to say WTF

First I bid and won the ebay auction for Doc Brown's Delorean. Unfortunately I got the pre- BTTF2 edition which meant no Mr. Fusion.

Next I agreed to make an explosive device for some libyans in exchange for some plutonium. I gave them a Palm Pre with some extra wires hanging out of it.

I went forward in time to September 26th (to make sure the server wasn't overloaded) and downloaded the carrier update via iTunes.

Here's where it got tricky. The libyans were tracking my iphone via mobileme and quickly found me. At least that's what was in the email I sent my past self. So clearly my plan worked. Unfortunately - I'm not sure I will survive past the 26th and I haven't gotten any more emails. But still. I have MMS for 2 weeks so all is right with the world.

That's probably the best response I have heard yet to "I can't wait till the 25th for MMS" threads.

so i did it last night around 11pm... didnt work reboorted 2 times, tried to install the settings that was in a previous reply... rebooted again...

sent a picture... looked like it stopped at 90% again but it went through!!

working great send and receive since!

If I restore my phone will that bring back the original carrier file?
The original file is att 5.0
iPhone software 3.1
iTunes 9

Worked for my wife and me in Tucson Arizona. Wife has upgraded 3.1 iphone software and I can confirm that she is unable to tether.

I stuck with 3.0.1 and I am still able to tether just fine.

Don waste any more time on this thread. Unless you have a non-standard text plan this will not work until ATT opens up MMS.
