I just tested editing contacts on my iphone and it does indeed push it to my computer. Takes about 30 seconds to go from my phone to my mac.

Push to Additional MobileMe Email Addresses?

I have a main .mac account to which I added another email address. On my iPhone, only the main email address has "push" as an option. The addition .mac address does not have push.

Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas to get push enabled?

Thanks!

james

EDIT: Found my own answer:

You must have a full MobileMe subscription or Family Pack sub-account to use MobileMe Push. Because email-only accounts don’t include iDisk, they can’t be used with the MobileMe synchronization service.

I'm sorry, but I really do not think push refers to sent mail pushing to a device. You wouldn't even see this behavour on a blackberry. Push refers to incoming mail being pushed out to a device.

Updates to all mailboxes should be reflected instantly imo.

I am curious if you can be a little more specific? There is alot of push functionality that is working that IMHO doesn't make it a total waste by any means.

I'm speaking as a whole. The entire MobileMe service is nothing but a waste of money and I see no practical use what-so-ever. Apple has always been good at making consumers think they need something. They worst part is, the more people that gobble up this "pseudo-advanced" technology, the slower Apple will move forward into actual ground breaking work.

Lately Apple has been more of "Here you go, instead of carrying a pocket paper calender around with you, you can store your calender dates in your phone". For starters, who actually needs to use a calender? Who's life is so cluster-****ed that they don't know what their doing on a particular date. Honestly...

Second, how is updating your calender on your computer and having your phone automatically update too ground shattering advancement? This has to be one of the single greatest lazy "inventions" ever in American history, that everybody JUST HAS TO HAVE.

10.5 was a waste of an upgrade, 10.6 is going to be a waste of an upgrade, when is Apple going to get their **** together and actually bring something good to the table other then waste of HDD space features.

The Mayans used calenders, how many damn versions of a calender do we need? Do some real work Apple.

So is it possible for me and my wife who both have iPhones and 1 MacBook Pro to push between all three instantly with both calendars and contacts? This is what I need to know and if it is not working now will it work later? It does not seem to be working for me know. By the way I have the family mobile me account.

I asked the MMe support about the iDisk File Sharing feature and this is what they reply
My name is Mike from the MobileMe Support team and thank you for your inquiry about iDisk File Sharing. This feature is not currently available with MobileMe.

When MobileMe was announced, iDisk File Sharing was mentioned as a feature; however, the MobileMe webpage noted that all features listed on that page were subject to change. When MobileMe was released on July 10, 2008, iDisk File Sharing was not included. I apologize for any inconvenience.

However, you can certainly use the Public folder of your iDisk to share files. You can access your Public folder through the new MobileMe interface. The new Internet address (URL) for iDisk Public folders is this:

http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public

For more information about sharing your files using iDisk, please review this article:

Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,

Not a big deal for me.

I use the original iPhone and have no problem pressing the button to get the mail for each account.

I also am around Wifi most of the day and have access to the internet to achieve the mail tasks :D

James, all other email addresses you add to your main .mac account are "aliases" - and email sent to them is just like email sent to your main acct... all will show up on your phone i believe.

Why only some contacts syncing with mobile me?

I have tried about 30 times to get all my contacts over to my mobileme and then pushed to my new iphone, but for some reason it leaves out about 30 contacts every time. Anyone else having this problem?

I've tried to merge all data, I've chosen the option to replace all data on mobile me with the data from my mac, but it still leaves out the contacts:confused:

What is going on here? Any answers would be great:)

So your saying you can make an appointment 3 weeks in advance and remember it? The family reunion 6 months from now? The lunch date next Thursday at 3:00? The job interview at 2:00 tomorrow?

Not to mention a reminder to pay the car bill, return some library books, and meet up with a friend at the coffee shop.

You my friend need to think before you make asinine comments.

I'm starting to believe that they might just release OS X for x86... given how little non-gadget work's been done lately.

Still Pretty Buggy

I did all of the MobileMe setup yesterday and found that it's still pretty buggy. I'll wait until all of the kinks have been taken care of.

Where did you find that answer? I have a sub-account (not e-mail only) on my iPhone that does not have a Push option.

I agree 100% percent. The mayans had a calendar, whoopee. Lets improve on it.

You must not have looked very closely (if at all, because it's all right here):

http://www.apple.com/mobileme/features/:

Don't forget the "See how push works" video directly under that paragraph, which clearly says and shows the very thing that people are upset about. To quote the end of the video:

It is true Apple says it will be pushed but it is PUSHED from the cloud down, there is no PUSH from the mac to the cloud. Also it says AUTOMATICALLY not IMMEDIATELY....IMMEDIATELY means instantaneous or PUSH. It is automatically sent from the mac to the cloud but it may take time.....it is not instantaneous. I wish everyone would actually watch the video or have better comprehension in reading. To the rest all bent out of shape, calling Apple and Steve Jobs a liar should take a chill pill and buy Vista.

i am doing it right now... as soon as i make a cal event on me.com or on my phone the my computer syncs

i just created new calendar events on my phone three times and after 40 seconds non had triggered a sync on my macbook, nor had any of the events been pushed toiCal on my macbook, nor had any of the items appeared in iCal on MM. I have MM set to automatic and all four apps turned ON in prefs on the iPhone. I then (having erased the other phone cal entries) created a new calendar event on the phone and started a manual sync on my computer. 60 seconds later the event had not appeared on either MM or in iCal on my MB. Maybe the servers are down again. At any rate, I'm not having the experience you reported (particularly confounding because earlier i was getting prompt updates). it's a frustrating way to run a business. "They just work" indeed.

You and your wife each have separate accounts on MobileMe.

Only one MobileMe account can be syncing with one account on your MacBook Pro.

However, you can publish calendars from iCal, then subscribe to other calendars in iCal. This subscribed information is sent to MobileMe.

I would recommend setting up two accounts on the MacBook Pro so you each have your own workspace, and you can both put in your mobileme accounts separately in each separate account.

Then from both iCals, publish your calendar, and then subscribe to the other's calendar. That should be the solution.

The way you are thinking doesn't make a lot of sense, since calendars on MobileMe are not considered "group" calendars.
