Give it some more time. Maybe it will engage. Another user said it took a long time for him. It also could be an El Capitan bug, as several forum users have spoken of not having handoff or Airdrop and they have newer machines.

I did, yes. Based on everything I have read here, I have done everything right. Just need to wait and see if it eventually turns on. its been a few days though, so I wont hold my breath 🙂

Ok now my handoff has been showing on my Mac,but it doesn't show on my iPhone lock screen but my iPad shows on the iphone lock screen

Ah so this is due to SIP? Yeah my WiFi hardware shows up as missing but prior to that Handoff etc was working, all I did was restore my Time Machine backup which had it all backed up and my WiFi appeared again with my Handoff settings untouched. I find it odd that it was working for quite some time just fine.

At the risk of sounding like an utter whinge, I am completely unable to use CAT even though I have the correct hardware and software. Surely others must also be experiencing this issue?

I've checked my 11" Air yesterday again trying to figure things out.
Go to you General System Preferences tab and tell me what you see?
I've got Handoff enabled there, but the only thing that really works is AirDrop. The most valuable feature to me - Instant Hotspot doesn't work even after the log in/out of iCloud routine.

I don't have the tick box there since CAT doesn't get that far. 🙁
I also do miss the instant hotspot feature.
The thing is, CAT didn't get anywhere in my case either, same point your's did apparently.
I've had the CAT patch running throughout Yosemite without a problem.
I just installed the GM and disabled SIP, then tried to run CAT and received the same message as you have.
To my understanding it says you need to have a supported BT 4.0 card, which it finds since the value it's looking for is 6 and it gets this very number but somehow sees it as an unsupported device.
It's just a conclusion of mine, since I'm no expert in the technical field, just a lawyer with a knack for tech 😉

Yes it's frustrating because it's not a hardware issue, the software doesn't seem to look at what hardware is really present.
Thanks for trying to help though it's most appreciated - hopefully one of these clever folk are going to come along with a solution soon.

Your pic shows that you're using the 2.0.0 version, how about give the 2.1 Beta a try? There should be a link to it in the previous pages, as well as the cloudpaird file replacement.

I just headed to the Github page and grabbed the latest version (which was updated 1 day ago) and I've made some great progress.

Use the beta version of CAT. I had he same message but worked after using the beta. There's a link on the previous page.
From the screenshot, it looks like you aren't using the latest CAT. This is the current CAT version. Download the zip file or clone to desktop. Give that a try, along with replacing the cloupaird file and report back.

Everything is now working apart from the Instant Hotspot - not sure what else to try to fix that?

Glad to see most of it is working for you. I don't have Hotspot ability with my cell provider, so I can't help troubleshoot in that area. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Somehow after Yosemite->El Cap RC update the CAT-trick 😉 didn't get disabled as Handoff was still available in the Sys Prefs menu, just Instant Hotspot stopped working. After using the beta I didn't get the "unsupported hardware" issue, however my hallmark Hotspot feature didn't come back.

Damn, I wish I had all that working. I might try again by doing a clean install of 10.11. Here's the weird thing tho, when I installed Yosemite the menu bar showed wifi and BT icons with an "X" thru them, meaning they weren't working at all. As soon as I ran CAT, they came back on and everything worked. When I installed El Cap, wifi and BT were still working without Handoff/AirDrop

think I'll have to try a clean install of El Cap.I updated CAT today on my personal repo. It will now no longer use the "rootless" flag in NVRAM and instead use csrutil to check for SIP. It will now also do another patch to get Handoff fully working again without using an old cloudpaird, thanks to slvrscoobie who found out the workaround.
So the newest version should be pretty easy to use again on El Capitan final.
Next up is cleaning the code, fixing bugs and try to get dongles working again.

Can someone attach the original El Cap cloudpaird file? I would like to start fresh with the new CAT, but stupidly deleted my backup of cloudpaird 🙁

I think I found an original. Test it and see by replacing current file with this one. If Handoff stops working, you know it is the orig. Make a backup of it first.
