The reason I care about this is because I use iTunes 10.6.5 in order to transfer books to my two iPads.
The Books app cannot transfer to devices. I guess there may be a way to sync (not sure how) but I don't want to do that.
I prefer to transfer my books and my music manually as I always did. Syncing is maybe fine if you don't have over 300 GB of music and over 6000 books on 4 different devices.
Tim's Apple is not my Apple if everything is integrated into the OS, no separate iTunes or Safari downloads etc.
So this is goodbye to macOS updates for me. It pains me because I've been using Macs exclusively since 1989. But I've reached the end of the road.

If I remember correctly you can just drag a book on the iPad in iTunes sidebar or whatever and it will copy it.

Unfortunately it doesn't work. The only workaround is to use the iMazing app, witch works fine, but of course, if you need to check or change tags you must open the book in the Books app first. Then you can open the iMazing app to do the transfer. iTunes 12.6.5 allowed the user to do both.

My understanding was that 12.6.5 did not work on any version of Mojave? It did not install for me on earlier versions of Mojave.

I know there is a work around to install 12.6.5 on Mojave somewhere on another thread here on Macrumors - should be easy to find - it involved tweaking some files, some thing I am wary of doing since it will probably break at a future update.

I gave up trying to make iTunes 12.6.5 work and recently bought iMazing and like it so far

I know how to make it work I did NOT update yet but this happens every single time a new update is released..you have to when you open up iTunes, MANUALLY check off installing stuff, then you can drag and drop your books to iTunes

I think you are trying to drag on the wrong area. I just dragged an ePub on the "On my device" sidebar part and it copied it to the iPad. I am using iTunes 12.9.

Thanks for the suggestion but it was not the wrong area. It does work but ONLY with an old iPad mini running iOS6.0.2. I've also tried it with an iPad Air 2, an iPhone SE an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 7, all running iOS 12.2 and It does not work. I even did a clean install of 10.14.4., all in vain.

Did you install the 12.6.5.3.pkg created with this method #92 ?
I just did and it installs fine but when trying to run it I get an error message saying " You can't use this version of the application "iTunes" with this version of macOS"
[doublepost=1553697066][/doublepost]
It installs but it does not run. Gives error message.
I tried but when running cp ~/Desktop/Info.plist /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/
I get Permission denied
