It’s the soundtrack.

You can put low quality video on vinyl though.

Thank you so, so much!! I love technology and this was a spectacular look at some historic technology I was never aware of in the United States. It is amazing how quickly visual recording technology has advanced. Though I do not watch commercial movies/TV I am fascinated how quickly engineers have advanced audio and video production.

Arguably one of the best shows on Apple TV+ right now. The thriller/suspense of everything. The subtle hints around what is really going on… love it. Can’t wait for season 2.
Agreed. it is WONDERFUL. And I hate everything.

Loved the show but the market for something like this after only 1 season seems really small.
What makes it worse is it's on ATV+. Not hating on the streaming service.. I enjoyed my free trial and will go back to catch new seasons, and movies I missed (including the first season of Severance). However, ATV+ still seems to have a much smaller audience compared to other ss.

I don't really get the audiophile fetish about vinyl that isn't end-to-end analog. If it's recorded and mastered digitally so who cares if the end result involves a needle bouncing over plastic?

I really want to get into vinyls, but they're so expensive.
Start with albums you are already familiar (and in love with) and look on Amazon or even eBay and if you find a good deal for a fave of yours, go for it. I grew up on vinyl (I’m a “first gen” Beatles fan) and it admittedly could just be me, but there is a romance to be enjoyed with vinyl. The large cover art. Placing the record on your turntable. Flipping it over for “side 2”. It’s an interaction that can’t truly be expressed - it has to be experienced.

I’m a lifelong record collector and even run an independent record label (have a Kickstarter campaign currently running for a new 2LP release, won’t link it here unless allowed though, don’t wanna spam the thread)
I don’t personally own any Mondo soundtracks as I typically view them as a novelty. In fact I view the vast majority of new vinyl as a novelty. But they have their fans and they definitely know how to put together a compelling/attractive package, so I have to give them that.

How do you inscribe a movie/tv show onto a vinyl record?
(I'm ignorant because I stopped watching television and movies 30 years ago.)
I mean, it says "Soundtrack" right in the title of the article. Were you trying to miss it?

You've missed out on some neat things in the last 30 years.

Coming back? It’s the single largest music format on the planet right now. Here’s a fun visual.
Neat but misleading - it's the single largest physical music format. I'd venture a guess that digital formats of distribution are quite a bit more popular.

Being the largest physical music format now is akin to being the most popular horse buggy manufacturer.

Next generation of MacBook Pros and Mac Pros will offer a 2-speed turntable! Standard option: Mattel Barbie®-branded turntable. Upgrade option: Technics brand, starting at $3,000.

It can be pricey, but you can start out pretty reasonably depending where you are.

Go to a record store (or even marketplace, eBay, etc) and check out some used record players - I’ve seen some god quality ones for about $100. They won’t be audiophile quality but they’ll be better than the cheap ones sold at chain stores for roughly the same price. If you have speakers with RCA output you can use those or get a converter, and preamps are decently cheap on Amazon.

Most record stores I’ve been to have bins and bins of vinyl under $10 (lots of thrift shops near me have 50¢ vinyls). While lots of the selection might not be the best, it’s a cool way to discover new music and grow a collection. Depending on your music taste there’s usually cheap used vinyl to be found.

As you save, each piece can be upgraded so you can slowly get better quality. Overall it’s worth it, it’s really satisfying using vinyl and sounds great

Oh yeah - left out “physical.” My bad.
And lol @ analogy. 😜

Great show. But there's no way in hell I'm buying memorabilia for it. It wasn't that good, and they haven't even produced a season 2... they acting like they're game of thrones or something after 11 seasons.

It would be interesting to see the viewership numbers for this show. Other than The Morning Show, which had ads all over my city, I haven’t seen much ATV+ advertised, and I’ve only heard people talk about Severance. Three times I’ve had waiters make small talk by asking what I’m watching and they always recommended Severance. I’m assuming there’s a very dedicated fan base if they’re making this.
