Wallet, although finding a new wallet is a tortuous experience for me since I don't wear/buy leather. Right now I have a vinyl wallet, but they tend to fall apart in a few years. I might look into a metal money clip when my current wallet falls apart.

I agree, finding a nice wallet is hard these days, and I'm really particular about my wallet, which is why I've had mine so far. However I love my leather wallets so that makes it a bit easier. Must be rough for you mate.

The only leather thing i will buy is a wallet. Anything else either looks terrible or will fall apart in a year. I dont feel good about it, but i've had 2 leather wallets in the past 5 years so i dont get too worked up about it.

I voted for "money clip," but in reality, my money clip is just a binder clip. I've been using one for the past 3-4 years. Works great for me.

Me too. It holds about 10 cards perfectly and I've never had a problem with it. No more sitting lopsided on a giant wallet!

Vote for the Wallet here, I've never understood the point of a money clip, it seems so overly primitive and basic that it's destined for failure at every opportunity, I can imagine myself trying to get a fiver, and then dropping everything...

Last wallet I'm going through is a nice Element one, I think it's leather, it's lasted me a good 2 years now, longer than most other wallets I get :p

Hemp wallets

Neither. I put my driver's license and debit card in my back pocket. I have never needed anything else.

i use a leather Coach magnetic money clip for cash, and a thin leather wallet for cards - tho i am due for a new wallet, and will most likely go for an All-Ett. clip goes in my left front pocket, and my wallet in my right rear pocket, unless i am in a place with a lot of people, then my wallet goes into my front right pocket (more secure there.)

i like a money clip because that was i do not have to pull out my wallet with all my cards in it when i just need to buy a coffee, etc.. thereby decreasing the likelihood that i will loose a card, or otherwise allow a nefarious individual to see my credit cards, etc. i also like having them separate as it is unlikely i will lose or have both stolen, so one way or another i will have cash or cards even after getting robbed.

Exactly! Well, I'm not terribly concerned about getting robbed, but same idea. My card case and money clip got separated once, actually. I was getting out of the car at school, and my card case came out of my pocket somehow. I checked my pocket at some point during the morning and only felt the money clip. Luckily, I still had the money clip (which was probably valued more than the items in the card case). Also luckily, someone had turned in my card case, but that was unexpected.

I have two wallets. One I call my 'Costanza Wallet' because it's so thick, and the other is primarily for my passport. Both go with me everywhere.

Never been a money clip guy - I just have too much crap.

Wallet, I have too many other things that I need to carry on me (driver's license, school ID, train pass, AAA Card, bank card, etc.).

to those of you who claim you have "so much stuff" to carry in a wallet i think it is time for a Wallet Audit™ - what do you actually need with you?

my wallet has:

- personal bank check card
- business bank check card
- personal Visa
- business Visa
- driver's license
- faculty ID for school #1
- faculty ID for school #2
- mag-card for entering classrooms
- Blue cross card (health insurance)
- AAA card (roadside automotive assistance)
- business cards
- photos of family

i think people tend to carry WAYYYYYYYY to much stuff in their wallets. and for the record, i just ordered a All-Ett - the european in black fabric:

I'm getting rather sick of my leather wallet, as it's starting to leave residue on my cards. Does anyone else have this problem, or do I need to spend more than $25 on a wallet?

No residue on anything in my wallet (it's a Fossil). Although I'm not sure you have to spend more than $25 to prevent it from happening either. Have you tried any other brands?

Since I moved out to Boston last August, I've switched to a money clip. I usually never carry more than $10 on me at a time, and since I don't need to carry a lot of cards, the smaller and less obtrusive clip works better.
