I wouldn't order from a website that could so easily put your identity up for risk.
Believe me, it happens to the best of them. Companies who experience breaches either die or pick themselves up and take steps to make sure it never happens again. I'm content to give them another shot because of their selection, quality and service.

They are good, but they are cheap.

My adapters are crackling a little bit, but still work and built sturdy enough.

But BEWARE:
I got a letter from them saying their systems were compromised and credit card information was leaked. I didn't have any issues, but I haven't ordered from them since that, and I am more wary of trusting a site even though a ton of people sing praises of it.

They wouldn't have reopened their site unless they knew it was secure. They're probably wetting their pants every morning because they know if it happens again they're done. Regardless, it happens to the best but it's usually just well hidden. Props to Monoprice for full disclosure on it.

Regardless, I didn't change my credit card number (though I think twice, now) and nothing odd has shown up. If I remember correctly, it was never confirmed that anything was leaked, though I may be wrong.

Data breaches happen all the time. It's very hard and expensive for a growing company to build good defenses. If you never did business with anyone who ever got popped, your options as a consumer would be rather narrow. I think there's an argument for having some confidence in a company that has had to respond to a breach, because they know that a second incident like that could be the end of their business forever. Fool me once etc.

Anyone know why the cables I bought have lock tabs you have to push in to unplug the phone? Might get kind of annoying compared to the Apple one where you just pull out?

This is how the iPod USB charge cables were designed several years ago. These cables replicate the design of the older cables, which IMO feel sturdier and less prone to accidental rip outs.

I have a Belkin car charging set I bought last year and it also has the locking tabs. Good for car use thats for sure as you are much more likely to pull the connector out by accident when moving.

Just got done chatting with a rep, here's the convo about the accessories:

Well, there goes that one.

grrrrrreat. I loved monoprice's battery backups and was going to order another one... looks like that is over.

in the meantime, I guess monoprice got a cease and desist from Apple over using the dock connector and that's why all these items got taken down.

That's a damn shame. Well it's not their fault I guess. They're still on my list for exceptional prices on non-proprietary accessories and cables.

OT: I fail to see how allowing Apple to bully el-cheapo device manufacturers and vendors like this is in the consumer's best interest. None of the Monoprice products had official "made for iPhone" logos or whatever on them.

I just found the 1900 mAh battery from monoprice in black on Amazon from a seller called cables4u. Same price as monoprice had them and the picture shows the exact same battery with "monoprice" written on the side. I ordered one and hope they just had some stock they got before the big shut down. I think a search brought up the 2-pack of 1000 mAh batteries as well but I'm not sure.

I thought I'd let you guys know that the accessories are back up on Monoprice! :D

Edit: No cables though :(

Or the backup batteries that many people had and were reviewed so well. Seems like mostly cases only back on the site.

Just ordered two of these last nite: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10831&cs_id=1083101&p_id=6228&seq=1&format=2

Needed the longer cable for my bed, and I figured for that price might as well buy two and keep one as a backup lol. The stock Apple cable is too short for bedside purposes.

It says it shipped this morning already, and a tracking number is listed too via USPS. Is Monoprice really THAT good? This was my first purchase from them. :)

I just checked out the website...I would definitely give them a try. The cables seem like a good buy. I'm going to bookmark that site.

There are a lot of overpriced cables out there claiming all kinds of unscientific BS. I always choose sturdy good quality cables somewhere in the middle of the price range.

That means they're halfway back to making me happy. :)

I think I'll show some customer loyalty by buying an iPhone case. I've gotta buy my girlfriend a cassette adapter and pinning $1 on the order while keeping the shipping the same is too hard to resist. That's the one thing about Monoprice. My orders always total $5 or less and the shipping gets me hardcore.
