I'm thinkin' Colorware with a dash of Photoshop. The recessed headphone is a pretty dead giveaway that this is not the real deal, though. No way that is going to survive in the second generation of iPhone.

I don't think it is recessed. This is just the outer shell we are looking at...no guts. When the guts are put in, i think the headphone port fits quite close to the top...not near a recessed as the iPhone 1.0.

I definitely don't think it's a real phone. Apple supposedly released information about the dimensions of the new phone to accessories manufacturers, maybe they used the information to make dummies of the phone for testing new accessories?

Or maybe it's just a replacement case.

Skeptical

I don't know about you guys, but Apple is WELL KNOWN for not letting an ounce of information escape from within the company. So the chances of this actually being a G3 iphone, is in my opinion 0%. There are plenty of places online, one in particular ,www.colorwarepc.com, that will allow you to get custom colored cases for the iphone, and since this image has Chinese text stamped on it, it is most likely boot legged.
Now if this was as photo of Steve Jobs, wandering around Silicon Valley with a phone, there might be more weight behind it. But some lo-res photo, with a custom white case just doesn't do it for me.:apple:

Just the black case, now in white. Also the three sensor picture looks ridiculous to say the least.

The 3G iPhone will have the same sensors and positions of the original iPhone but will have a camera under the glass at the top either to the left or the right of the earpiece.

I wouldnt be surprised if the design of the new iPhone doesnt stray very far away from the original, just a subtle refinement. Also the original iPhone was kept so well hidden I just cant see the new one being revealed until WWDC.

I will skip this ver2 IPhone and wait for ver3

I m pretty content with the gen1 IPhone, It is way cooler, sexier and sleeker then this piece of plastic.

If this is the final shell for the 3G Iphone..... I m gonna skip this one....
Coz I can see many unhappy fanboys like me already!

Everyone has to remember the source.... China?

Everyone knows that China blatantly rips off everybody's products to the point where they use the actual corporate logos on the rip offs. It gets so ridiculous that vendors and retailers over here inadvertently buy products from supply warehouses and don't even realize that they are selling cheap knock offs. China is THAT good.

The company I work for has had MANY products counterfeited throughout the years from Chinese companies that no one can seem to find who and where they are but good God can they duplicate our product to the point where we even have trouble differentiating the differences at first glance.

Look at the Shuffle and Mini rip offs from a few years ago. The only give away was the bevel around the edge of the iPods in most cases. I think we have the same case here. Someone in the East is mocking up their version of it based off of internet rumors and folklore.

100% fake. Apple's latest design trend has been anodized aluminum. They're pretty much done with white.

Then below lol

MBP-Penryn 15", 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 2GB Ram, GeForce 8600M GT-256MB
Iphone-8GB, Itouch-8GB, 8GB Nano
Waiting for the 3G IPhone!

the little bezel around where the camera goes tells me there's more to these photos than meets the eye...a plain case wouldn't go that far in detail for the camera, plus the camera whole would probably be bigger so as the case didn't block off anything. I think these are legit, in some way.
That's what I thought also.

Look at how thick the material is also, and how the multi-holed area where the speakers were has been changed into two big holes.

I hesitate to say it because I want it to be true so badly, but could this be the new ceramic back? :)

So who with photoshop skills is going to disect the pictures? I.e. are the sensor changes photoshopped, etc....
For what it's worth, I ran the basic levels/filters tests on the images in PShop and there doesn't seem to be any obvious marks or indications of fakery. There are no anomalous hard edges, no obvious smudge tool marks or filter marks etc.

As a comparison, the all black "scratched" iPhone photos from France last week had lots and lots of obvious errors in them under the same test.

Although I can't really see Apple moving away from aluminum/metal back to their plastic, that white is drop dead gorgeous.

I don't really understand why Apple would introduce plastic into it's product line again. They've been slowing phasing it out for tougher, more durable aluminum and metal. They've also tried to be more environmentally friendly. A plastic iPhone instead of a aluminum one who certainly tick of those Green whatever people.

The original black one? I agree. It's just a case or something stupid like that.

doesn't it strike anyone else as strange that for all these "real" photos we've been seeing of the supposed new 3G model, none of them include a full shot of the front? (aside from the "new" sensors, that is)... they all just seem to be re-hashings of photos already available on the web (via colorware's site, etc.)

i say these are fake.

Then below lol

Ok I will make it a bit clearer..... for ya....

I m pretty content with my current IPhone in the looks dept.... But yea....I am waiting for the 3G IPhone and other functionality are welcome too....

But if its gonna look like the rip off above then I would skip this upgrade and wait for the next one.....

has anyone else seen this before?

http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/17/laser-etching-the-iphone/

supposedly the back of the iphone isn't aluminum, but "nice-looking" plastic, in the words of the article. it would make sense in terms of wireless reception. i don't get why people are so anti-plastic for the new iphone btw, esp. as aluminum produces more interference.

those flying toasters sure do bring back memories though :apple:

I don't really think that these are real. It may be a case for the 3G iPhone but I don't feel like this will be the new look. I could be wrong though. I would be a little more convinced if they were to show an image of the front perhaps but I doubt I'd be totally convinced.
Not that it proves anything one way or the other but a possible explanation for why we are only seeing the back is that this is all it is, a new back.

These photos look like they might be of an iPhone with no guts inside. If we believe the earlier report, they are models that are being distributed to accessory manufacturers and they only show the major difference of the new model, i.e. - the new back.

Could be total bulls*t of course, but these photos look more real to me than anything we have seen so far and I see no reason to discount them out of hand as being fake. They might be fake, but I see no real evidence of it yet.

If the real iPhone 2.0 looks the same as the original I am going to be fairly disappointed as I would rather have one of these. If it looks different, I hope it's at least as good looking as these are. They look totally Apple to me. Stylish, high quality materials, simple, and beautiful.

Nothing against new look and being now classic (for some) look.....

But plastic Iphones are going to be as scratch prone as the plastic Macbooks.
I understand the signal strength is weakend by aluminium but it aint gonna be as sleek and solid as the original Iphone if its going to be like the one above.....
Unless Apple is still holding down some aces in the design dept.... that we r not yet aware of....

M sure apple will have surprises for us.... both in Iphone specs and in looks....
