Weak and pathetic, but not surprising. But here comes the people who gaslight themselves and say "I'd rather Apple be late and do it right." Not when they are VERY VERY late, and still don't do it right.

Millions of people are already enjoying AI features by other companies. They are imperfect but usable, and ever improving. Meanwhile, Apple has nothing, and seemingly plans to have almost nothing.

Mmhmm, because Bard did so well trying to play the early bird game.

Lets be honest here, and this is definitely my area to comment on.

Our current AI fad, and it makes me feel dirty calling it AI but thanks Claud for that one, is not intelligence to any degree. It has no capability to reason about what it produces. It's just a statistically feasible sounding outcome with no proof or confidence measurement of the outcome.

Thus the only cases that AI matters is where the information output doesn't have to be correct or you're too stupid to realise it isn't. The market relies on the latter and hopes that the first one isn't going to get discovered.

The people enjoying AI features are just being told blindly by vendors to amble around with their eyes shut and fingers in their ears in a field full of bear traps.

I'm guessing you don't use any AI tools if you're this dismissive and wrong about the technology.

Translation: by 2025 Siri still will be useless. Maybe by 2025 Siri could do basic stuff

They don’t wow us with hardwares anymore. I doubt if they have the balls to wow us with their software still.

As someone who didn’t grow up during the IBM years, I’m really curious about what happened to that big computer company.

I think I’ll ask ChatGPT about it.

What about iPhone 11 series? Will they get iOS 18 anyway, even though there won’t be all AI features? I’m confused.

I'm still waiting for Siri to understand 2 languages at the same time... Alexa already does it, super handy for bilingual households.

I think you will, yeah. Not having the most demanding AI features (or even accessing them via cloud computing) doesn’t mean you won’t get the cool UI stuff. And the iPhone 11 has a powerful A13 SoC. I don’t think it will be cut out this year, probably next one.

I’d even go as far as to say that maybe the A12 devices are still supported by iOS 18. Of course Apple could decide to kill two entire generations at once and make the iPhone 12 a minimum requirement, but I see it unlikely. It would mean supporting just 4 years old iPhones and newer…

Apple clearly does not care about Siri, therefore I don't care about it either. I've had it turned off for a long time now.

Spending many months of dev time on condensing "Hey Siri" to "Siri"? That's the focus? And then delaying AI, that directly relates to Siri, in such a stupid way as to leave it out of the AI-oriented new iOS release? What a disaster.

I don't care when, at least they've finally started rebuilding Siri.
Bro ROFLMAO .. not at your or anyone using ios still, trust me I feel your angst!

You SHOULD care when!
- front page news on this site highlights changing icon colours; FREAKING ICON COLOURS! that's the highlight of wwdc 2024 that's accessible to customers day one or 1 week after??!!

If you see Craig pulling ANY cutsey winks or jokes you guys seriously need to smash em with tomatoes in the press cause this seriously is the final draw/straw for crap - and all these years no REAL work has been done to improve Siri - and if you come up with anything to counter this really people need to think WHAT of ANY OF IT does an executive deserve their exorbitant pay raise or any stick options of any kind for 5yrs before delivering anything NOT purchased or simple voice refininment.

If and IF Siri's become a SERIOUSLY important and powerful AI not simply in it's own right but the entire Industry like Knowledge Navigator promised, or like what Siri wowed us all upon initial introduction... then anything Ai related 1st step should be to kick out their lead on this that was hired from

Apple didn't start working on generative AI until 2023 as far as we know, so I wouldn't have expected it to be completely ready by next week. Apple rushed maps in 2012 and I don't want them to make that same mistake.

Apple needs to get going here with some improvement. I thought they would be further along than this..
why? people are still going to buy the next iPhone, they aren't going to switch to Android, they're locked into the apple ecosystem. just do some stock buybacks, easy work.
