The fact of the matter is that apple can charge whatever they want since they have a monopoly on products and basically you have no choice in what you pay because of this. Only way around is to move over to windows which I am seriously considering since there is a lack of upgradeability on any mac computer. I use very few apps and not so much concerned about books / music from iTunes rather apps in general. This has been the only reason I haven't switched thus far....
[doublepost=1483188891][/doublepost]Do you even know what a monopoly is?

There's no need to replace your iPhone every year. There's no need to buy the most expensive model. Apple released an iPhone SE and they sold very well. There are lots of people perfectly happy with a $200 iPhone. This idea of yearly upgrade is fine for people who want to waste their money and show off all the time, but nobody needs to do it. Apple would sell you a $5,000 iPhone if they could build it, but the only people buying $800 phones are those that want to, not those who need it.

I'm upgrading to an iPhone 7, but I've had my 5s for about three years. It still works very well.

Some people just like having the latest and greatest. Don't knock people who do it and can afford it.

That depends on the individual as one's money and how they spend it is basically unique to them.
So if you throw hundred dollar bills on the sidewalk, you aren't wasting money if you're rich enough?

The iPhone Pro was clearly a Plan B in case Apple could not get enough dual-camera sensors to put into all their iPhone plus models. I expect that Apple would have ironed out their supply-side constraint issues by next year.

I disagree that the price increase is due to greed. Every new form factor has always seen a hike in pricing because R&D costs money and Apple has clearly spent a lot of resources refining the touchbar. As the technology matures and manufacturing costs decrease, expect the price of the MacBook pro to do down as well.

I understand that you are upset by the MacBook Pro (seems to be a recurring theme these few days). No reason to use it as an excuse to go around finding fault where none exists.
If Apple is making the most profits from all the electronic concerns busy in the same business and making shameful much money. I start to wonder why not invest those exorbitant profits into making the ancient line more compelling and be sure hard-, software and services are at least on par with the best on the market today. Or give your loyal customers more bang for the buck so every Apple customer will be a representative of the company like they used to be in the past. A company the size of Apple cranking out this less of updates, new products and increasing prices for the minor changes, what else comes to mind as pure greed and profit focus?

Every category they're in they're lagging and overpriced compared to others. Name one category they excel? This is the poor state of Apple today and if they continue this pad with crippled products that don't fit their small ecosystem I'm sure 2017 will be the year those profits will dampening as snow for the sun.

It has nothing to do with Apple bashing or being anti Apple. Just look around, compare and work and see for yourself Cook & co are ruining the brand.

Because investors are the primary people they care about. They are most concerned with stock prices and dividends.

Nine women can't make a baby in one month.

Not every problem can be easily solved simply by throwing more money at it. Just ask Microsoft or Google.

I am not sure what you mean by minor updates. Apple products have always been defined by a series of iterative updates every year. That's what its customers appreciate and what they are willing to pay good money for.

The user experience.

My Apple products cost more upfront, but they have more than paid for themselves in the form of greater productivity and fewer problems overall.

Not to mention that Apple is able to make their products play nicely with one another, and that to me is worth every cent.

Perhaps. But for the moment at least, Apple's focus on ios is quite in line with my own personal interests, so you will get no complaints from me.

What user experience you mean? Maps, Siri, cloud? Play nicely with each other? You mean the dongle jungle, no Apple monitors, routers and ancient hardware for above premium prices? Maps is a total disaster (still is), Siri too. I can't move files from my Mac to my iOS devices unless it's photo's, music or basic things.

I only see an ecosystem getting smaller by the day with proprietary programs, cables (except USB c) like lightning etc. can't even use my iPhone 7 with the new MacBook Pro without buying a dongle. Great user experience indeed.

The world will respond in 2017 and they deserve it.

It's still a waste of money.

Not really. If you can afford it and want it, why wouldn't there be value in buying it? You don't need a TV but I bet you have one. I also bet its an HD TV and not a SD TV. There's no need to upgrade just for some better looking picture right? But I doubt you think you "threw money on the sidewalk" by investing in a sharper image. lol.

If you bought a new TV every year because it's better than last year's TV, I would say that you are wasting money.

The counterpoint to my argument is that there is no such thing as wasting money.

Idk, if you can afford it and it brings you some type of happiness then I don't think it's wasting money. For the people who can't afford iPhones and are maxing out credit cards every year to buy them then I think I'd agree that it's a waste of money.
