Built to order MacBook Pros on US Apple Store now showing 3-5 days shipping time (instead of normal 1-3 days). Looks like update really could be next week!

Interestingly, only for the upper end 15s and 17s. All 13s and low end 15s still show 1-3 day shipping for BTOs.

Canadian Store says the same.

my freshman year in college I will have: iphone 5, ipad 2/ipad 3, MBP 17", MBA, MY 4.2ghz desktop computer w/ dual 5870s. nintendo 3ds, nintendo wii, PS3, possible NGP, random other desktops and laptops.

that is the most idiotic thing you could do. in the end it will all end up being stolen. you kniw how much crap gets stolen from dorms and campuses. good luck with all that

Actually, he's pretty poor. Can't even afford the 6970's.
you mean 5970, the 5000 series is more powerful and more expensive than the 6000series

This MBP refresh or next?

Hi guys, I really need your advice.

I want to purchase a Macbook Pro really, REALLY bad, but if they're supposedly going to do a significant refresh near the end of summer, such as redesigning the case and using quad-cores, should I hold out for that? Or should I pull the trigger on the new ones?

Thanks

US isn't down so can't see the store coming down being for anything too exciting probably just server maintenance................

I was thinking along the line of 'Europe is falling madly in love with Mac', but hey, whatever floats your boat :)

of maybe the continent is sinking into the ocean?!

US will go down after our timezone has gone to sleep

If they refresh now they probably wont update at the end of the summer.

the mbp updates are like 10-12 months apart

i shouldnt be so greedy and spend some of the money i made on aapl stock last year and pull the trigger on a mbp 13 - if the specs and price are reasonable

Finally, I've been holding out for the newer Mac for a year and I will buy it immediately if the 13" is under 4lbs(that would be sweeeet), has the awesome LCD of the 13" Air and is faster. Otherwise, I'll think about buying it for a while before I cave in and buy it.

Or, I'll wait for the faster 13" air hopefully this summer.

I really hope after all this that it's not just some ultra minor update.

I'm holding off on selling my current mac just in case...

I am almost very sad to get a new MBP, since my April 2008 15" MBP is still kicking better than any windows machine I could get at work... I don't really like the keyboard of the latest round of revisions, my fingers flow easily from key to key with my current MBP's keys. I would say that i don't really need an upgrade technically, as this laptop is awesome 3 years later, just my current warranty is done and my employee wants me to be covered... What a bad spot to be in... :D
