8 megapixels...still? 3 years and no advancement in whats probably one of iPhones most used features?

aside from the fact the magapixels mean very little in photography.. and the advancements they are in fact making to the camera

3 years puts us at iphone 4
and if i recall correctly the 4S had a pretty big camera improvement....;)

that's too gold, a lighter version will look better, it's a good thing apple's considering to offer more color options.

Back in my day, we used film! We had a small crank on the top side and you had to pull it twice to advance the frame! We knew our F stops back then, dagnabbit! We didn't even know what a mega pixie was! Now get off my lawn! Damn kids! Time for my nap!

Remember me? Image

I don't think I want a gold iPhone but the gold iPod Mini didn't look bad.

Gold makes sense, first of all they'll do it tastefully and it won't look tacky.

Secondly it's something that Samsung et al can't copy with their plastic cases. In order to make a gold phone you pretty much have to use aluminum or maybe some other metal.

The middle east will be all over this

A quick comment about megapixels (you can take this with a grain of salt as I am not a photographer. My understanding is that megapixels is only part of the equation for quality photographs. In the case of the iphone, 8MP is more than enough for the quality of the lens that most smart phones employ. Which is why a camera with a lower MP count can produce superior photos to what a smart phone can. Just my two cents.

Why on earth would you need more than 8MP unless you were blowing up photos you took. You wouldnt notice a difference on screen of an iphone between 8 or 15MP.

I hope Apple don't make a cheaper plastic model, most people associate iPhone as quality and high class... it should remain that way.

Real nice camera on a piece of **** phone.

Why? Lumia was and will always be a good phone. It is solid build, have nice cameras and looks nice. Windows Phone is smooth and simple to use. Only thing Windows Phone just need more bing name app, then it will be good.

A 15MP picture down sampled to 8MP often looks better than a native 8MP image. And I don't see why the iPhone screen's resolution should be the only criteria; we'd only need <1MP if that were the case. People do occasionally look at photos on their computer. And sometimes cropping is necessary since the iPhone doesn't have optical zoom

On another note, I think 5C is a bad name. Might stand for color, but my mind immediately goes to "cheap"

The "5C" name is going to be hilarious in Russia.
C = S

Just wondering what they are going to say about what the letter means.

That gold color option for the 5S must be a fake rumor... or Apple has fallen down way further than I thought they were already.

Megapixels is one factor among many. I think (almost) everyone recognizes that you are not going to get Nikon D800E quality pictures out of a cell phone, but people do have the nagging feeling that you might be able to get point-and-shoot quality. So far, that hasn't been the case, especially at low light. So, it is a competition among cell-phone cameras that are inherently mediocre, but, there are significant differences. At the moment, the Nokia 808 and Samsung Galaxy S4 are ahead of the iPhone 5S in overall quality according to this site:

Here's hoping the 5S is able to jump ahead.

Might be way off but why haven't we considered that the phone will only be available in china as that's the market apple are currently focusing on developing. Possibly only releasing the plastic phone in a year or two under a different name to the rest of the world.

gold iphone render in this thread is by far the worst render i have ever seen. if i had not been to other threads i'd criticizing apple for creating such a bad iphone.
