Verizon has been pretty good so far handling the Androids and air cards. They use more data that the average iPhone.

That's not to say a lot of iPhones couldn't put a squeeze in certain areas, but VZW has a good model in AT&T.

True on the latter point. Verizon iPhone's won't be worth nearly as much for resale. May not matter for the target audience though.

Blackberries don't use much data. Most of them are pretty "dumb" phones.

Droid has been mildly successful but it's a needle in a haystack to what iPhone would sell for them. You're comparing Apples to Oranges.
 
What about data and voice simultaneously - - - can I talk and pull up a map at the same time, like I can now on AT&T?

Also, my friends with HTC Evo 4G phones make me drool. That phone is rad. I am not that nuts over the iPhone anymore, so I'm sure there are millions like me that are going to switch to Android after the current contract ends.

I won't hold my breath either. However Verizon does have an advantage in that they saw how the iPhone decimated AT&T's network for all these years, which means they've had time to beef theirs up. Because they knew eventually they would get the iPhone. So I hope they're prepared for it.

I know a TON of capacity is slated to be added 1Q of this year. Real big push for it too...
 
Haha, Gizmodo is now getting alienated from Apple's partners. Serves them right for acting so illegally and maliciously.
 
I think this is not a phone but rather the iPad 2 with both Wifi and LTE + HSPA+ +WiFi models.

For the same reasons that they cannot release a CDMA device, they cannot release an LTE only device because of the limited rollout around the world.
 
You don't think there would be an announcement like this regarding an Apple cornerstone product without Jobs being there, do you?

Wow, I can't believe this is finally happening.

In the past I said that I would probably stay with AT&T, but this is no longer the case.

You see, I was visiting home in KC over the break and my service was terrible. We had lots of bad things happening during those two weeks, including issues with multiple cars, and I was making a bunch of phone calls every day. I probably dropped 30-35 calls (which is probably 80% of them). As a matter of fact, the cell service at my parent's house is so bad now that I don't even receive calls or texts half the time. When the iPhone first came out, I had 5 bars there. Then a year later, it hovered between 3-4 bars through last summer. Now the max is 2 bars, with the average between 0 and 1 bar, and dropped calls all the time. Catastrophic fail, AT&T!

I really hope that Verizon gets the iPhone 5 at the same time as AT&T. Then I will pay AT&T my cancellation fee and jump ship. Watch the people running in horror from AT&T. It will be epic! A price war would also be nice. I'll take a $15 2gb data plan, please. Including texts.
 
this might be very wishful but i am hoping if this is true big red offers 1 and 2 year contracts for iphone, i never get 2 year contracts i hate being locked into a phone for 2 years unless i sell on secondary market
 
have any of u thought why release the Verizon iphone if in like 4 months there will be a new one. i think they will announce the new iphone(yes a new one) and start shipping it about a month latter :apple::apple::apple:
 
i cant wait until june when all the at&t iphone owners that switched to verizon complain that they can't get the new iphone 5 with HSPA+ thats only on at&t. gonna be gold.
 
I can't wait for the iPhone to be on Verizon so that all of you folks that are unhappy with AT&T can switch over and stop all your whining and bitching about AT&T!

Why? Bc there is a lot of money to be made in the 4months leading up to the new one in June.
