Its about time, and I only hope the pre-orders will be available from Verizon's site. I'm up for my annual upgrade and, for some reason, can only get it directly thru Verizon. I would hate having to pay retail because its only offered by Apple and their system won't recognize my upgrade.

I sense a call to customer service may be in my future.

I'm still really curious as to whether or not Sprint and T-Mobile will see the iPhone soon. I'm half-tempted to buy a Verizon iPhone 4 outright and not sign a contract until the 5th generation model comes out and other carrier details get played out. While I had a horrible AT&T experience that has kept me from the iPhone, my Verizon experiences have been fine, but so has my Sprint experience. I'm really indifferent who I'm with if it's not AT&T, but I'd probably return to Sprint if a 5th generation model worked with them. I've just got real good customer service contacts with Sprint that always have been able to help me out when needed and I know what I'm dealing with contract wise. I'm super excited to see the iPhone on another carrier, but still many questions remain.

No more yearly upgrades with Verizon after this =/

We'll see. I'm still hoping that it's more than the current iPhone 4.
I was skeptical of Apple releasing a CDMA phone. Looks like that's what's about to happen.

But would they really kick sand in AT&T's face while doing it. I don't think so. They're not leaving AT&T behind; they're adding a carrier/distribution channel.

Guess we'll find out for sure on Tuesday.

Too bad Verizon is so much slower than AT&T's 3G network.

Too bad you almost always have Verizon's "3g" while you rarely can get AT&T's 3G. AT&T's can certainly be fast the handful of times you've got a signal. I've been a part of many pathetic experiences where I had to pull out my old Blackberry 8330m on Sprint to look something up when the iPhone 3Gs or 4 on AT&T could barely get Edge moving let alone 3G. What's so sad is that my Blackberry has the slowest processor for doing anything as well and it still killed the iPhone more often than not in loading pages. Seriously, sad, and all on AT&T.

I know, but I'm already eligible and will be able to get it one last time. I did check, and historically the iPhone was up for pre-order on AT&T and Apple's sites, so it should be good.

Plus, something tells me that Verizon may pull one of those "anyone with a contract ending in 2010 may get promo pricing with a 2 year contract." This would make sense, and would keep folks tied in for longer (which is the ultimate goal).

Here's my question: What will everyone say if/when Verizon does NOT announce that it will be carrying the iPhone (on the 11th, at least)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... isn't AT&T's exclusivity supposed to end in 2012? Not 2011?

You're right on one part. On Tuesday something special will happen. Until that day comes we won't be sure of a Verizon iPhone or iPad or iPhones 5. It may have nothing to do with Apple. BUT if a Verizon iPhone is presented on February 11, then it may not be available to the public until 2012, only presented. The post says that they are not sure when it will be available to the public.

But I have to say this sounds the most promising. If a Verizon iPhone ever exists, the most likely time will be this Tuesday.

I'm hoping Verizon customers get some "gift" from Apple for waiting so long, other than just having the privilege of owning an iPhone. Who knows, maybe our "gift" will be an exclusive white iPhone 4.:D

*yawn* It'll still be stupid if it's exclusive to 2 carriers. Get it on T-Mo and Sprint too, Apple.

I'm not sure that would help Apple sell more phones. O2 had exclusivity in the UK, then opened up for Orange, Vodafone to join the 3GS crowd. Three and T-Mobile sold iPhones in the UK but not officially until iPhone 4 came out. When that happened we then had Unlocked phones in the UK.

I'm pretty sure Apple sells more phones in the UK unlocked than they do to a network. Judging the queues I saw in Regent St and Covent Garden over Christmas, they're selling tons of them all Sim free. Literally saw people walk out with 10 phones.

If Apple is going to sell their phones on other networks in the US, I'm sure they'll just go Sim Free to boost sales. Just my 2¢

Eghh. I'd rather have an exclusive black iPhone than the white one to be honest. I'd be annoyed if Verizon has the white and AT&T the black one.

It would make sense if both Verizon and AT&T got a slightly improved version of the iPhone 4, possibly called the iPhone 4S, at the same time (or a couple of months later for AT&T), with the iPhone 5 arriving in 2012. I'm a Verizon customer and I know it would suck if my new iPhone got replaced only 4 months later.

If AT&T gets and updated iPhone a few months later, it won't be "your new iPhone" getting replaced, it will be the AT&T iPhone 4 being replaced.

I am really hoping that this happens. I'd love it if AT&T and VZW were on the same release cycle. I think it'd be a win-win for the consumers. VZW customers that purchase the iPhone in the coming weeks (myself included) wouldn't feel outdated when June came around with a new model being introduced, and AT&T customers would get a slightly early refresh.

Finally. It's about time.

I predict widespread awe on the 11th followed by a lot of moaning and bitching as people see how Verizon's network crumbles when millions of iPhones hit the towers.

I'll sit back and watch.

You may be surprised. One of the ways I was able to get the early scoop on this 6 months ago (though of course I couldn't share the details) was I came across some specific work Verizon's doing to prep for the load.

Unbelievable there's still doubters out there but then I've known for so long it was coming that it seems like old news to me.

Anything else more than your word to back up this claim?

So I'm curious....anyone else here up for an annual upgrade and have been sitting on it waiting for this to happen? I was eligible in mid-November, which means I'm about 14 months or so into my contract.

Any other "squatters" out there?

The consistency of his claims are good enough for me. I recall his posts over the last few months.

Additionally, there were stories in the press on Verizon working to ready their network for the rollout.

For all you naysayers, you do realize that the Wall Street Journal is an actual real newspaper with decades of high-quality journalism behind it, right? It's not some random blogger in his parents' basement spewing out rumors. For the WSJ to say it's a Verizon iPhone announcement means that they've verified this information from multiple independent sources.

WSJ has been wrong on this matter multiple times in the past... Just saying.

That gizmodo non-invitee is more than proof enough of an apple announcement here :p

I believe so!

Exciting! My contract with Verizon is officially up in March, although I can upgrade early anytime.

Pretty much perfect timing for me to get the Verizon iPhone

Anyone else unable to get to page 9 of this thread?

Edit: And I changed my settings to see 40 posts per page and now it won't let me get to page 6.
