DL Is Alive and Well

The bestbuy here (or other stores for that matter) don't even carry DL disks yet. I wonder if they will ever become a norm considering the new formatts being released.

Not really. DL can be bought at Circuit City for $5 each. That drive must be able to at least READ DL because iLife '06 is on a DL disc. I for one am hopeing the 17" model will have a DL Superdrive and FW 800. I like to have both a 400 AND an 800 port on the portable. Hook the digital camera to the 400 port while the 800 port is for an external HD. I completely disagree with your opinion and others here who think FW 800 is not missed, nor internal modem. I will miss them both and all. I'm praying the 17" will be worthy of them to be back in. Apple is OVER cost cutting corners to increase profit at users' flexible capabilities expense.
