lol, Apple will bring in panorama wallpaper like Andoid has had for ages, Apple with bring in quick toggles like android has had for ages. Apple will got with a monochrome design. Apple should stick with the shiny design they have, what they need to do is add features and options. I swear i will laugh if Apple still does not allow users to select default apps on iOS7.

ja ... guess i'm shallow :D id much rather see a new design than some apps ill never use and could download as a 3rd party alternative if i really want that function

I agree.

But Im hoping that the play up of colors is leading to more function - like a much more useful Notification Center and different means of multitasking.

He is even not a hardware guy, he is a design guy. Apple should focus more on technology innovation rather than design innovation IMO.

Your mistake is assuming both operate independently, when in fact the design innovation could very well lead to new features and such.

As for hardware.....Apple is perfect right where it is. They have battery life thats rated at the top, their CPUs are efficient and power the smoothest smartphone experience out there, they STILL have the best GPUs on the market, their displays are the brightest and most color accurate on the market, their phones are light and thin etc etc......

Sure, I'm all for throwing in a new fingerprint scanner or whatever, but refinement of iOS is really what I want to see. The hardware is plenty fine IMO.

Though some speakers like the HTC One would be nice.....damn that's a sweet phone.

Reading this makes me glad i jumped off the Apple iPhone wagon and finally free of the locked down Apple ecosytem. I've gone back and forth over the past two years. In reality your bias is locking you into Google's ecosystem is just not as obvious

Some people here are funny.

1. Some hear something about iOS 7, and immediately jump to the conclusion that it is bad without even looking at it.
2. Some continue to set high expectations for Apple (that no one can ever meet), clamoring for stuff that will likely not come to iOS, and they are the very ones that will be disappointed when it is announced.

Hey, instead of all this negativity, how about just anticipate the release without setting expectations?

He is an industrial design guy, so he IS a hardware guy... a hardware design guy. :)

Great idea! Put a hardware guy on software! Horrible, no new innovations. What a joke.

Um, they talked about quick toggling controls and moving panorama backgrounds which sounds amazing. Why judge so hard on a design you haven't seen? Ive isn't a "hardware guy", he is a designer and a damn good one at that.

So like I/O 2013?.....

Google released Play Games like Apple has had for ages (Game Center), Google released reminders and alarms set from Google Now like Apple has had for ages (Siri), Google released more api tools for devs like Apple has had for ages....

This goes both ways. Both implement similar functions in different ways. That's the point of separate platforms.

I don't want more "features" for the sake of features. Give me a more refined iOS with some added conveniences (toggles, great - more refined notification center, awesome).

Default apps.....meh, I'd be fine if they added it but not broken up about it.

I'm genuinely wondering about most of you guys.

"IF APPLE DOESN'T CHANGE IOS IM DONE IM LEAVING FOR THE GS4!!!!!"
"I HATE THE TEXTURES EVERYWHERE SKEUOMORPHISM SUCKS!!!11"

"Apple is making big changes to iOS as a whole, rather than only minor ones and dropping textures in favor of simplistic black and white backgrounds with splashes of color."

"WTF THAT SOUNDS SO BAD I HATE THAT IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE"

Are you complaining just to complain at this point, or...?

some of these changes sound close to a mix of what other platforms have already adopted, only a few more weeks to find out though!

oh and if you want a preview of iOS 7, just take a look at the music app on your iPhone or iTunes on your computer

I would say the Apple podcast.app would give you a better idea… it came out after Jonathan took over interface design and Craig took over iOS Engineering. It changed dramatically, and for the better. I hope this is an indication of iOS 7's redesign.

I guess we'll find out on June 10th.

I think its impossible to really judge it until we see anything.

Ableton Live looks pretty unattractive.

But apps like Todoist and Catch I can picture as flatter versions of Apple apps, with more black and white, but look pretty good IMO.

I'd expect iOS to take more cues from apps like Todoist and Catch than Ableton Live.

Refreshing the look and feel does prevent them from adjusting the features of the OS as well. I don't know why people complain about functionality in a thread focussed on design. It makes no sense.
