Wouldn't it be funny is Steve took the stage and announced no new iPods, but an apple guitar and a new apple cereal. Just to make everyone look silly.
i would totally buy the guitar
Now introducing Apple Jacks, they are magically delicious!
apple jacks is already taken but i suppose they could buy them out
My teenage son says he chatted with an Apple support person who told him that the new iPod Touch will have two cameras, and the high-end model(s) will have a 3g subscription offered (presumably the one offered with the iPad). No idea whether this is true; just reporting what he told me.
you can get sales reps to tell you anything if you know how to talk to them. i convinced a guy at verizon to confirm that the iphone was coming in november. its just social engineering. or your kid could be lying to you. or you could be lying to us.

Then why go though the trouble to add all those features?

No one knows yet kid. We will see next week.

Because Apple would rather have you buy an iPod touch. It's an upgrade!

They may call it something else, e.g. iPod micro.

...iLounge is also hearing that the small touchscreen device that we've been seeing hints of will be thought of as an iPod Nano rather than a Shuffle -- though iLounge admits "it doesn't make much sense" to them at this point."[/url]

IMO, this new miniature, squarish, iPod is a Shuffle. If Apple renames this new device an iPod Nano, it is only to capitalize on the better brand image of the Nano (compared to the Shuffle) while discontinuing it.

If it means anything, Apple usually doesn't have new iPod Shuffles at these events. The new Shuffles usually come around 2 weeks after.

Good observation, but this means little if Apple renames the new device "Nano." I support the others who think Apple will reduce the iPod line to two models: the new "Nano" (shuffle/nano hybrid) and the Touch. I also think Apple may offer a wider range of storage capacities: 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB for the new "Nano," and 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and (hopefully) 128GB for the Touch; however, I would not be surprised if the new Nano were restricted to 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities.

I agree I don't think this is a shuffle but a new nano.

Def a game changer imo, because this means we'll see touch capabilities on lower end media players.. ALTHOUGH that depends if the prices still remain the same.. Apple already upped the price for the mac mini, so I don't really know what to expect in terms of pricing.. As far as cosmetics go honestly it doesn't look very nice to me.. I would've preferred seeing a white version.. either way tho I assume its all going to be touch sensitive and no buttons.. if that is the case I think Apple may have some trouble making it look nice.. I guess we just have to wait and see...

Also wonder what the experience will be like.. because the wheel on the ipod has always been the best way imo to navigate..
