Cook's strategy has shafted the share price recently so let's hope it's not a full recall - much as I like a "buying opportunity" I prefer the execs to keep the share price rising in a steady manner and QA isn't rocket science.

I expect the same vitriol towards Apple on this forum when this was an issue for Samsung.

For now it is not the same thing at all though.

In the case of Samsung it was phones exploding, catching fire, and/or emitting toxic smokes. And after a while it became obvious that it was a design issue and all phones were at risk.

Here we are talking swollen batteries but no explosion, fire, or smoke. And for now it is a few isolated cases. So yes it is not a good start for the phone as there are a few cases already. But neither the gravity nor the scale of the issue currently deserve the same comments Samsung did get and it would not be reasonable to expect the "the same vitriol" unless it does escalate to the same type of situation.

That’s what this article says... 5 occurances in the same time Samsung had hundreds.

5 does not equal 100+ last I checked. As time goes on, sure, more cases will show. But the slower frequency of them already proves this a lesser case and issue.
That's a ridiculous defense. So because it takes the iPhone 8 twice the amount of the time to have the same number of reported failures, it's less of a problem?? I didn't know that dangerous situations were rated by events/day.
